So, you know and I know that this is a food blog, right?
Which means I post recipes for you all and then I cross my fingers and hope that you love the food and that your family and friends call you super cook of the universe.
That is my goal, plain and simple.
But today is Saturday and you might have some family and friends near by that want to hang out together and have a bit of fun. So that’s what I have for you. A recipe for fun!
My family and I have been playing Speed Scrabble a lot since the holidays, and it is really a ton of fun (and a little bit addicting 🙂 It’s kind of like playing Words With Friends, except you play with real friends who are living and breathing and sitting next to you. You don’t have to know a lot of big fancy words, simple three letter words work well. Which is lucky for me, my simple mind and my hideous spelling skills. The game is great for a small number of players or for a large group. Kids can participate and so can great grandmothers. All you need are a couple of boxes of Scrabble, a handful of players and a table. Pretty simple, right?
Because I love ya, and I love to pass on a fun thing or two to you wonderful readers…I picked up a couple of Scrabble Board Games for one of you!
To enter the giveaway leave me a comment telling me one of your favorite games. You know…like Monopoly, or Canasta Spin the Bottle or Leap Frog. You have until Thursday at midnight to enter. The winner will be announced on Friday morning bright and early with the sunshine.
Now….let me show you how to play!
The edible kind. 🙂

Our family like any kind of card game: phase 10, Uno, etc.
Our favorite game is Settlers of Catan.
For family fun time, we love Apples to Apples. The kids usually win.
We love to play Sedarahc…Charades backwards!
We got a new one for Christmas called You've Been Sentenced….so much fun, hilarious, and my kids had a BLAST! especially because they trounced their dad (for whom English is a second language). You have 10 pentagon shaped cards and each card has a word (or phrase) and variations on each of the 5 sides (choice, chose, choose, choosing, made the choice). You have to use as many of the 10 cards as you can to make a grammatically correct sentence…which results in lots of ridiculously silly fun.
Thanks for the chance to WIN! I love playing games with my fam!
Catch Phrase is probably my favorite game, although there are so many fun games.
We did a light green penny round, and found them on Overstock.com for about 1/4 of the price. With a lot of stuff I try to buy local, but if you’re going with Home Depot anyway, I’d rnmmcoeed going on Overstock. Plus, with us, it was the difference between $1,200 and $300. There was no noticeable quality difference. You can sort of see it in this
The most played game in our house right now is Princess Memory 🙂

Our family loves playing Settlers of Catan. My son just gave the family the Knights and Barbarians expansion for Christmas. Even with older kids we still manage to have a game night at least once a week.
My favorite is Funglish. It is indeed a fun game which we play pretty often with our friends since our kiddo (the only one so far) is only 2 years old he can't joint us yet.
We LOVE Dutch Blitz! You have to try it. [email protected]

We love to play Monopoly, Life, and of course Scrabble!
We love playing skip bo and uno at our house. This kind of scrabble looks way more fun than the regular way!!!
We love Euchre in our family!
The family favrite around here is Uno. Just because it is easy to teach the kids the difference between colors and numbers. But, my parents just gave us a new one that we can't wait to try out-Mille Bournes. And when I want an old-fashioned board game, Clue is my favorite go to.
Our favorite game is Blokus, fun for the whole family! It was a Christmas present and we have been playing it alot since then! Even my 6 year old loves it! I love your blog and have made many of your delicious recipes!
We love to play Life. And our new favorites are Jungle Speed and Blokus.
I love playing Jenga and Boggle. Such fun games that really make you think!
Words with Friends on my iPhone, hands down! 🙂
I love all your recipes – your my kind of cook! We're a game-loving family, but right now my favorite is Qwirkle!
Right now my favorite game is “Game of Things”. So fun!! And I love your blog. I sent you an e-mail once and I loved that you actually responded to my request.
I can't wait to try some of the games your readers suggest – they sound like fun! My daughter and I are hooked on “Trouble” – we have been playing every day. There's nothing like a popomatic dice roller! 🙂
Hand and foot or canasta as some people call it. Great for when all my siblings and their spouses get together.
Well, with 128 comments, I'm sure I won't win, but here goes. I LOVE to play Scrabble. I have the Deluxe Edition, with the spinning tray. It's killer. AND I love Blokus. Also a favorite.
PICK ME TO WIN!
When the kids were younger and still at home, we used to play a lot of “The Game of Life”. Now it seems like we play more card games like Phase 10 and Michigan Rummy with our adult friends. Wanda
Settlers of Catan. But, a close second is Ticket to Ride.
I love card games esp hearts! Love your blog
[…] really fun. I wrote a detailed post about it a couple of years ago. You can access that post HERE. I would recommend it for ages 8 and up, you can as few as two players and up to 10. It retails for […]
