Berry Blast Smoothie

It’s The Good Old Summer Time, you know.

And when summer shines itself about, I set myself to making a smoothie or two. There is just something so refreshing about a fruit smoothie, would you agree? They come together so quickly and are so good for you.

My kids call them “Special Drink”.

“Hey Mom, how about making us a Special Drink?” is what they say, exactly. (They have such an eloquent vocabulary, wouldn’t you agree?)

And then I say something like “You bet, it would be my pleasure. I’ll get that done right away… just as soon as you clean your special room and quit teasing your special sister and stop making all of those special messes. Deal?”

“Deal.” they say.

Which means…this Special Smoothie Drink is good, man.

My kids will clean up messes for it.

Berry Blast Smoothie
Time: 5 minutes
Yield: 5 (8 ounce) servings
Recipe from Jamie Cooks It Up!
3 C mixed frozen berries (raspberries, blueberries, blackberries)
1 C fresh strawberries
1 C light vanilla yogurt
1 T sugar
1/2 t vanilla
1 1/2 C orange juice
dash salt

1. Toss 3 cups of frozen mixed berries into your blender. I like to buy mine at Costco, they seem to have the best price.
2. Cut the green tops off of 5 large strawberries, you need about 1 cup worth. Just eye ball it, we are not performing heart surgery here. Just building a smoothie to put a smile on your face. Just breath, take it easy and all.
3. Add 1 cup vanilla yogurt,
1 tablespoon of sugar,
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla,
1 1/2 cups orange juice
and a dash of salt.
4. Blend it all together until well combined. If you like a thicker smoothie, add more frozen fruit. If you like it on the thin side add a bit more orange juice. Serve and enjoy!

I often just use a banana, a cup of raspberries and 3/4 cup of milk for a one serving quick breakfast.

Have not been able to pin your recipes for the last couple of posted newsletters I’ve received, not sure why.
