{GIVEAWAY} Three years down, many more to go.

by Jamie

Three years ago, this week,  I started stock piling recipes on this little blog of mine. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing! My earliest photos are enough to make you want to grab a gag bucket and run for cover. Truly. They are exceedingly scary. I’ve learned a few things since that time, and hope to learn a lot more about food photography and internet technology in general! This old mind is a slow teach, let me tell you that. Sometimes when I look at HTML coding (or speak on the phone with the technical support guy from Liquid Web) I feel like I have been dropped off in a foreign country where everyone knows how to communicate but me. Did I mention my exceedingly slow mind? Or perhaps it’s just full of recipe ideas and big bags of butter and sugar. I suppose that could make a mind run slowly, now couldn’t it! Suffice it to say, the technical side of blogging has been a bit of a thorn in my side as of late. I appreciate your patience and support as I have moved from Blogger to Wordpress and struggle to figure out how to make things work over here! Good glory. Who knew it was going to be so difficult. 🙂

That said.

I really, really, really love writing this blog. I love looking for new recipes for you all, and thinking about ingredients and what you all might like to make for dinner. I absolutely love hearing your cooking success stories and how these recipes have worked out well for you and your loved ones.

I love all of you cute college students that make these recipes for your room-mates.

I love to hear from those of you living in Australia and Mexico and Japan and all manner of foreign type places.

I smiled all day when I got an email that said “So, are you a Mormon? I thought you might be when I saw that you have a lot of kids and cook with Jello.” That one made me chuckle.

I get a kick out of comments that say “If I die, my husband wants to marry you.” Um. I’m pretty sure he’d be GIGANTICALLY disappointed when he sees me in person. Running a food blog can really put a kink in a girls waist line, if you know what I am saying here. Could someone please dust off my gym pass…it’s all covered in flour and sugar.

I laughed and laughed when someone emailed to ask if I could send them a printable copy of my “Turkey Breast of Wonder” recipe. They have a filter set up that won’t let them access anything online with the word “breast” in it. HAHAHAHAHAHA. Still makes me laugh. Probly didn’t help that I named it “Turkey Breast of WONDER”. I will take precausions in the future. 🙂

I love hearing you took first place in a cooking contest when you made this.

I cried when I got an email from a dear woman whose son is battling leukemia. I cried even more when she told me “I read your blog ever day just to see what normal people are doing and eating. It’s a nice comforting place to be.”

I love running into you at the grocery store, and meeting you at Discount Tire. 🙂 I love that you share my blog with your friends and family. I love that you come here, read my ramblings and make these recipes.

You are wonderful.  Thank you for making my day so many times over.

I have $100 Amazon Gift Card I would love to give to one of you. To enter the giveaway just leave me a comment at the bottom of this post telling me what kind of recipes you would like to see more of here on this little blog. I love a little feedback. 🙂 Winner will be announced on Monday morning.

Have a great Halloween, everyone! Be safe and carefull. No post tomorrow, due to the Holiday. Hope to see you back here on Thursday!

First of all – your blog IS THAT WONDERFUL! I come here first when I need a recipe for anything! And my mother-in-law and sisters-in-law I have been easily able to impress with things from your blog (and trust me – they are from a lonnnnnnng line of way-too-good-for-their-britches bakers)!!! My sister-in-law has even frequented this blog for recipes WITHOUT ME, indicating that I really know a good recipe when I see one! (o: Points for me!
Thanks for posting tasty things – and things that don’t require me to travel to the ends of the earth for ingredients I would never otherwise carry on hand!
Your sarcasm and wit is exactly my style. And your ability to use butter and sugar shamelessly is also my style.
As for a suggestion for future posts – anything you post will be amazing I’m sure! But I suppose I would be especially happy to see freezer-meals, crock-pot meals, and other quick-to-whip-up things. (o:
Thanks for everything you do!

Jamie,
I HATED cooking and baking until I ran across your blog. You make wonderful recipies that a pathetic amatuer can follow. The step by step pictures are so helpful when I’m confused. You are the only blogger I religously follow. I’ve been making tons of your recipies because I KNOW they will be good and they are so easy to follow. I’ve been so tickled with myself that I’ve been inviting people over more and bringing food to parties more and believe it or not people have started talking to me about cooking and coming to me to get recipies and ideas!! I of course send them to you right away. Thankyou for giving me the confidence I needed in myself. I appreciate it so much and I know my husband and boys do as well:) That being said I would love more crock pot recipies.

I was going to suggest meals for two but… Stop laughing and get up off the floor. (I bet you’re wondering if you’ll EVER get to cook only for two.) Anyway, and believe me, it’s hard cooking just for two after cooking for a family all the years.

I think you have a wonderful blog with a good blend of all types of foods, Jamie, and don’t think you really need to change a thing.

Thanks and continued success with your blog!!
