30 Christmas Treat Recipes

by Jamie

I’m going to admit a little something to you today.

Are you ready?

Every year, a few days after Thanksgiving I get a little bit blue.

Down.

Bummed, I suppose you could call it.

The reason for a silly dip in this old gals mood?

I suppose you could call it a simple case of Bah-Humbug Grinch-itus. Not that I don’t love Christmas. I do! I think I just get a little bit overwhelmed with the thoughts of hanging the lights, putting up the tree, shopping, making dreams come true, shopping, buying, getting, going and going and going and going clear up to the very moment the last Hoo down in Hooville eats his roast beast.

Yikes. It can be a lot to take on. Pass the Tylenol.

But then, the Christmas lights go up. And they really are so beautiful.

The tree finds its way to the corner of my living room, my kids gaze at it with wide eyes and we cuddle and read stories next to it… and it really is beautiful.

People drop off plates of decadent treats on my doorstep, fluffy snow falls outside while my kids and I listen to Christmas music, I watch the wonderful Tabernacle Choir sing things like this and this. Beautiful. So very beautiful.

I see people caring for each other, generosity is evident all around.

And by the time the middle of December hits, this crusty old heart of mine has softened right up and I wonder why it ever gave into Grinch-itus in the first place. I’m going to try to avoid The Bah-Humbugs next year. I truly am.

Hope you all are enjoying the beauty of the season…in all its many shapes and forms. 🙂 Some of my favorite Christmas Treat Recipes to follow…just for you!

Glad to know I’m not the only one ! I have a lesson to teach on top of everything, and boy, do I feel the pressure ! How many goodies do you make each Christmas? Do you change it up or have the standard 5,8,10 that are a MUST to make??

I really enjoy you, wish we could meet sometime, and love your pics and wonderful recipes. OH….My store JUST started carrying Corn Poppers, so I bought two bags, and will make them using your recipe…when, exactly, I don’t know, but I will !!

These are all so beautiful- thanks for sharing them! The Peppermint Dipped Oreos really jumped out at me…..my husband was glancing at my computer screen from over at his desk and spotted the Chocolate Rolo Stuffed Cookies…I’m pretty sure we’re on the way to the store for ingredients NOW. 🙂

I TOTALLY screwed up the White Chocolate Peppermint cookies… I substituted Cherry Cordial M and Ms for the white chocolate… but I have a comment… they are still delicious, though in pieces because I had to pry them off the cookie sheet…. I would recommend using PARCHMENT PAPER under them on your cookie sheet. Much easier to get off, and mine had to cook a little longer than 8 minutes… with a new stove, no less. The melted kiss was yummy, and so was the peppermint… and the M & Ms were delicious, too… but I had to scrape them. Trying again tomorrow the right way, but using parchment paper!

Thanks for the great recipes!

Would you do a post about how early you begin baking and how you store your Christmas cookies? I hate waiting until the last few days before Christmas but I never know how to store cookies so they will still taste fresh if I do begin cooking earlier. I’d love your advice! Your blog has given our family so many recipes!
