My favorite (and my family’s too!) recipe in cold weather is a baked oatmeal recipe I got from a church recipe book we put together a few years ago. It only has 1/2 cup of brown sugar in a 13×9″ baking pan and uses those awesome frozen berries from Costco that you stir in during the last 15 minutes of baking. The end result tastes like a cross between oatmeal and coffee cake – dessert for breakfast AND IT’S HEALTHY! Takes moments to throw together, and you can do other stuff while it bakes. Let me know if you’d like the recipe! 🙂

A big bowl of hot and sour soup warms me right up. I’m going to try your cheesy rice but since sometimes bell peppers are not my first choice, I’ m going to use a poblano or pasilla pepper. Thanks for the recipe ! Oh and I love polkadots !

My fave cold weather recipe is Zuppa Toscana! I found a recipe for the Olive Garden classic and we’ve spiced it up so much it’s hardly even recognizable from the original! It’s so spicy it’ll make your nose run :p

Since I was little my mom always made us a version of taco soup which she always had ready for us as we came home from skiing. This is still my favorite “cold weather” recipe because now I go skiing with my family and it is so easy to dump all the cans of ingredients in a pot when we return and in a snap it is ready to warm us all up.
