The Weekend Report: When It Was Still FROZEN (GIVEAWAY)

by Jamie

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED

The weather is starting to warm up here in Utah, but back a few weeks ago this is what it looked like at Bear Lake.  It was like an eternal winter. Truly. I couldn’t imagine where all that snow would go.

IMG_2251_edited-1

We invited up a few of our close friends to hang out with us. We hid out  in the warm cabin while buckets and buckets of snow came showering down.

I could swear there was at least 4 feet of fresh snow.

IMG_2091_edited-1

We didn’t mind a bit. We chatted, and visited…played some cards…

IMG_3059_edited-1

indulged in a few delicious confections. Might I recommend this  fabulous Almond Joy creamer. Please  pour it in a mug of  hot chocolate at your earliest convenience. It’s heaven in a cup, baby.

IMG_2107_edited-1

After we had been inside for quite a while, a few choice individuals couldn’t stand it one minute longer. The eternal winter was closing in, man.  This particular wild cat threw off her comfy socks, rolled up her pjs and just Let It Go, baby.  Can you believe all that deep snow out there!

IMG_2117_edited-2

She couldn’t believe it either. For The First Time In Forever, she ran around in circles with snow up to her knee caps.

IMG_2118_edited-1

And then, my guests started dropping like flies. Out into the snow they went…

IMG_2134_edited-1

running and jumping around like they didn’t have a care in the world. I may or may not have passed out on the living room floor from laughing so hard. Now, I don’t know much, but there is one thing I know for sure…I always want to have wonderful people around to laugh at with. That familiar saying  about laughter being the best medicine? It rings true for me.

IMG_2181_edited-1

Running through the snow in your bare feet is funny to watch, but it turns out to be a little more pleasant when you put your shoes and socks back on. Note to self.

IMG_2195_edited-1

Cool cat.

IMG_2200_edited-1

Whoa, who let that girl with the yellow hat out of her cage? The hat was 25 cents at Walmart, okay. I just could pass it up. Now that I see it from a distance and on my actual head, I may never wear it again. Another note to self.

IMG_2210_edited-1

We did a bit of sledding…

IMG_2226_edited-1

had a snowball fight or two…

IMG_2231_edited-1

or three…

IMG_2233_edited-1

and then we  played in the snow until it was dark outside and we felt like drinking some  more Almond Joy Creamer Hot Chocolate. There was a lot of laughter to be had right in the middle of the FROZEN winter. Who would have thought. It was one of my best winter memories, for sure.

We have been loving Disney’s  FROZEN soundtrack all winter long, have you heard it?  I hate to admit it, but sometimes I listen to it when my kids aren’t around. I know, juvenile isn’t it? I can’t help myself. It puts a big old smile on my face and quite frankly I feel proud to be walking the same planet as the people who are talented enough to write something so clever and endearing. Love it. There are a lot of great messages there.

FROZEN is coming out on DVD this week, on March 18th I believe.  I would love to give 3 of you a DVD/SOUNDTRACK combo pack. All you have to do is leave me a comment telling me one of the things you loved doing this past winter.

Before you know it, spring will be showing her pretty face…

…and that is a beautiful thing in its own right.

The Giveaway will be open until Tuesday March 18th at midnight. Winners will be announced and contacted on Wednesday March 19th, bright and early with the sunshine.

DISCLAIMER: This is not a sponsored post, just a little gift from me to you.

My family and I went to Midway to see the ice castles. Right next to the ice castles is the Midway outdoor ice skating rink. We decided to ice skate as a family and had a blast!!! The ice skates were awesome and did not even hurt your feet. It was a great day!

I loved attempting to make snowballs (more like hard ice balls) out of the lil amount of snow we got here in Houston Texas! My daughter was so excited to have a “snow fight” for the first time on our trampoline.

My favorite thing about winter is having a fireplace burning – the smell of wood and the idea of s’more in the middle of winter is always fun!

Our family fun last winter was to go to a place that makes their own snow and ice. We live in California in a place that doesn’t snow. My kids and their friends had so much fun flying down the hill on an inner tube. Can’t wait to go back next year.

We live in Waco, Texas…no snow ever! 🙁 A little bit of sleet, and then the whole city closes down 🙂

My favorite thing to do this winter was do recess duty with my kindergartners. They had so much fun shoveling snow, building, sledding & rolling around in all the white stuff we got in New England!

We live in a Fort Collins, Colorado. I cook a lot during the winter. This winter was no exception. I tried out quite a few of your recipes and they’re fantastic. So I guess my favorite thing to do this winter was cook and try out new recipes.

Very little snow in Raleigh, NC but I enjoyed walking part of the way home in a recent snow. I was totally prepared–drove husband’s 4×4 truck, had all the clothes I needed–heavy coat, snow boots, umbrella, etc. Once the snow started, I headed to a different office and on the way, the truck started acting up and then died! Barely made it into a gas station parking lot. Mechanics were closing up shop early due to the weather but confirmed that it was the alternator! By the time we charged the battery up enough to park the truck out of the way, there was lots of traffic on the roads and lots of icy places that caused a huge traffic gridlock in the area. What are the odds that the alternator would go out during a snow event?!! My husband finally was able to travel a few miles to reach me after I had walked almost 2 miles. It was a fun walk with the one exception of tripping over a hardened footprint–you should have seen how quickly I jumped back up! I could just imagine the people in the vehicles laughing at the crazy looking woman wearing a huge coat with a polka dotted umbrella! My husband kept calling me–each time, I had to juggle the umbrella, pull out the phone from my pocket, and take off my glove just to answer it! The last time he called, I was getting a little frustrated with him calling and asking where I was or what I was doing but this time, he saw a lady walking along the sidewalk (thankfully right after the fall, I KNOW he would have laughed!) and didn’t know it was me until he called AGAIN
and saw me going through the process of answering the phone! It was quite comical afterwards! I would have only had about three more miles to walk had he not been able to reach me!

We had an extra week of Christmas Break. It was so much fun! We had fires in the fireplace everyday and made smores in the fireplace. Then we went outside and burnt some of that sugar off by building snow forts and having snowball fights.

We didn’t get as much snow here as usual so our family didn’t have our big sledding outings like usual. However, one afternoon, my son built a sledding hill going off our back porch steps. His sisters and I joined in and had a great time on our own small sledding hill.

Since you are considering March wintertime, my favorite thing is to sit outside in the pleasant 70 degree weather and smell the orange blossoms. I know–winter in Arizona does not resemble winter in Utah.

I loved figuring out how to make bread bowls (the easy way) using Rhodes bread dough. We eat a lot of soup in the the winter, and I love soup in bread bowls!

I can only tell you about one thing I liked doing this winter??? Taking pictures of all the wildlife in the snow. I lived in Florida most of my life so my move to the DC area and experiencing the four seasons, especially winter and the snow has been wonderful! I’ve seen, and been able to photograph all types of birds, deer, chipmunks, beaver, ground hogs, and a coyote!
