Would you believe me if I told you this amazing smoothie is made from only three ingredients? Bananas, peanut butter and milk, man. It’s the truth, as sure as the sky is blue.  You can add a little drizzle of caramel syrup and sprinkle a few peanuts on top if you that’s your kind of thing, but trust me when I tell you it’s really good without those additions as well.

Yesterday,  MyLittleTwinBoys woke up claiming they were absolutely STARVING, and what in the wide world could they have for breakfast that could be made “Fast, mom! We are STARVING!”

Boys, I tell ya. They need a lot of food, and they make enormous piles of stinky, dirty laundry. They are also really great for snuggling, kissing, wrestling with, reading to, joking with…and living your life for 🙂

“How about an awesome milk shake?” I said.

“Hu? Whatchewtalkinbout? Did the lady in the fluffy blue robe just say she would make us a milk shake for breakfast!” is what they said to each other while I whipped out the frozen bananas.

It was the right thing to do…

And I didn’t feel one bit bad about it. Bananas, peanut butter and milk (plus a squirt or two of chocolate syrup) could be the next breakfast of champions, could it not? Don’t these two look like champions to you?

Banana Peanut Butter Smoothie from Jamie Cooks It Up!

BANANA PEANUT BUTTER SMOOTHIE
PRINT RECIPE

Time: 10 minutes
Yield: 3 (1 cup) servings
Recipe idea from Facebook follower Phyllis Drake (thank you!)

***NOTE: This recipe is best made with bananas that are ripe, they should have had lots of brown spots on them before they were frozen. Brown spots = super sweet bananas. Hence, the no-sugar-needed-policy.

SMOOTHIE:
2 large frozen bananas
2 Tb peanut butter (smooth or crunchy)
1/2 C milk

TOPPINGS: (Optional)
Chocolate Syrup
Caramel Syrup
Peanuts

1. Grab 2 large frozen bananas and toss them into your blender.

2. Add 2 tablespoons of peanut butter. I used crunchy, because that’s what I keep on hand, man. I like a little crunch. If you love smooth creamy peanut butter, please use that.

3. Add 1/2 cup milk. (I used 1%, the important reason being…that’s what kind I buy).
4. Blend the ingredients together.

You may need to turn the blender off and scrape the sides of it with a rubber spatula so that the frozen bananas can be blended up properly.

This smooth, wonderful texture is what you are looking for. Keep blending until you get there. Add a touch more milk if you need to.

Then just grab a glass or two and pour it in. It should be nice and thick.

You can add a drizzle of caramel or chocolate syrup and toss a few peanuts on top, if you have them around and you really like a crunch. 🙂

Then dig in, baby!

You’ll be glad you did…
