GIVEAWAY! and How to Save Money on Groceries with Deals to Meals

by Jamie

If you are a long time reader, you know that I am a big fan of Deals to Meals, a website dedicated to helping folks save money on groceries. Their site is wonderful! They take all of the grocery store ads for the week and list them in one convenient spot. Each item is rated in accordance to how good of a deal it is, which is especially helpful if you are new to shopping deals and aren’t quite sure if an item is priced low enough to buy. Not only are the items rated, but they share a weekly meal plan that makes use of the items that are on sale for that week. Thus, turning Deals into Meals. It’s great, truly.

Share Button DEALS to MEALS has kindly offered to give TWO of you lucky readers a years membership. To enter the giveaway,  you can do one of three things.

1. Follow me on Instagram, or
2. Follow Deals to Meals on Instagram, or
3. Simply click over to the Deals To Meals site to take a look.

Then come back here and leave a comment telling me you did so. The giveaway will be open from today until Sunday September 6th. Winners will be announced on Monday September 7th.

Shandra Madsen (the owner of Deals to Meals) took me grocery shopping a couple of weeks ago to show me just how much I could be saving on my bill. Now, I have used their site for quite some time, but I loved going shopping with Shandra the master of grocery store shopping. The girl has it down to a science!

We hit Sprouts first for their double ad wednesday. Every single wednesday Sprouts will honor their ad from the past week, and the ad for the coming week. It’s a great way to get a lot of produce for super cheap. Often they have fresh chicken breasts for around $1.77 a pound as well. Shandra told me if you call ahead the butcher will package the fresh chicken breasts for you into freezer safe packages, in the quantity you prefer. They will even slice the chicken into strips, before they package it, if you request it done that way. Seriously. That was revolutionary to me.  Can’t wait to give it a try.

We went to Walmart next, where we Price Matched almost everything in my cart. Do you know about price matching? It’s fantastic. Walmart will honor sale prices from other grocery stores in your area. All you have to do is tell them the price and which store has it listed. One of Deals to Meals greatest features is that you can print off a grocery list that states the sale prices, along with which store has it on sale.

Super handy! That way when you are checking out you have all the information you need ready to go.

From the Deals to Meals website you can also print a menu plan for the week that includes ingredients to make the meals, and where they are on sale. Handy.

At Walmart I bought a lot of stuff for dinner making, but grabbed snacks (and ice cream, who can survive a week without ice cream. Can you answer me that?) and a few other things we needed. I price matched these Goldfish Crackers for $1 per bag, which you can see is a great savings!

All told, I got this bounty of food, complete with ingredients to make 7 dinners (some of the ingredients needed I had already at home in food storage), lunches and breakfasts for $170 dollars. I also grabbed multiples of some of the best deals for the week, like Best Foods Mayo and Ice Cream. For my large family of 7 people I felt like that was a great deal.

Deals to Meals just launched a new updated site that is very user friendly. Last week I prepped for my shopping trip at Walmart by making a fantastic meal plan, and shopping list from the Deals to Meals site. I headed back to Walmart to shop the deals and realized I’d forgotten to print out my shopping list. Lucky for me, all I had to do was pull the site up on my phone. My grocery list was saved there for me in my account and all was well in paradise once again, friends.

If you haven’t given Deals to Meals a try yet, give it a go! Saving money on groceries takes a little bit of time and energy, it’s true. However, Deals to Meals makes it so much easier! They only charge $4.95 a month and your first two weeks are free. Hope you get a chance to click over and make some budgeting magic happen, friends.

I’ve been debating on signing up for a meal planning service. Deals to Meals has moved to the top of the list.

Well, I tried to sign up and view the site. Even though my log in information was showing on screen, I got a message saying my name was incorrect. I completely exited and tried again with the same result. I think I’ll pass as $5/month seems excessive for something I enjoy doing anyway.
