Angela,
I would be careful trying it with a hand mixer. They just don’t have the motor power needed, and you may end up burning it out. However, you could knead the dough by hand. It would take a while, but you could do it. I would suggest searching You Tube for a tutorial on how to knead bread by hand. Good luck!

Tammy,
I used a Kitchen Aid 5 quart size mixer. This recipe will work in a Kitchen Aid of that size. However, I made it every week for a couple of months and ended up burning out the motor. 🙁 So, proceed with caution. The dough is pretty heavy. Good luck!

I made this tonight and it was wonderful! Thank you for sharing your tips and advice with each of us!
I was just wondering if it would be possible to make this with just a hand mixer? I don’t own a stand mixer of any type and can’t get one.

Thank you I will look into that!
I have a Kithcen Aid pro and I really want to attempt this recipe with it. I was wondering which model you tried it with and it’s didn’t do well.
