Today I am reviewing this great cookbook. You can purchase the book at Amazon.com at this link. Jane Dorian, the author is also giving away a copy to one of you! I have really enjoyed reading it and trying some of the recipes! Jane gives wonderful tips for freezing, storing and making portions of recipes in advance, so when you are home and ready to cook, your meal will come together in a snap. She has some great advice about freezing marinated meat, right along with the marinade. I did NOT know you could do that. What a great idea! Her recipes are very family friendly and use ingredients that most of us keep on hand regularly. I am eager to try more of her great recipes.
*****GIVEAWAY*****
Jane would like to give one of her helpful books to one of you lucky guys or gals! Thanks to you Jane. Dinner time can often be quite a challenge. I don’t know about you, but around here I am always grateful when I’ve had the forethought to plan ahead and have something prepared (or at least MOSTLY prepared) before my crew comes home from school. Then my time is available for all those crazy things that go on between 4:00 and 7:00. Jane’s book is all about planning ahead. I have already put to use some of the great tips she gives.

As a mom of busy boys I am always looking for good, healthy meals and trying to save a little time in the process. This cookbook sounds great. Can't wait to see what tips she has.

This cookbook would be wonderful to have. I am married to a dairyman, whose schedule is pretty unpredictable. Some nights he's home at 5 other nights its 7. I also have a 5 month old that I stay home with. I would love to have this cookbook to give me some tips on how to get dinner prepared early and throw on the finishing touches when my hubby gets home
I'm always up for a new cookbook. I'm like you Jaimee, between 4 and 7 is all about kids homework, soccer practice, tumbling classes and scouts. This book sounds perfect for me to get some dinners ready to cook before that crazy time of the day.

I'd love this book – my husband and I are trying for a baby, and I'd like to get the hang of cook-and-freeze down before we have one, and it'll be nice to not have to cook as often. *lol*

One of my 2010 resolutions is to be more organized. Jane's cookbook seems to be a good way to motivate me to plan meals ahead of time, make a grocery list, and have a variety of meals ready to serve in a jiffy!

Jamie, I am so LOVING your blog! This cookbook sounds great. I've been trying to get into the mode of preparing things ahead of time for when my energy level is just too low to cook a nice dinner. It would be great to have some new ideas.

My life like all mothers is terribly busy. I work full time during the day. I also have a full time job at home tending to may family. Everyone needs breakfasts, lunches and snacks. I'm also a homework helper. In between all this I am a chauffeur and housekeeper! Make ahead meals would be a time saver! For sure!

Jamie,
This cookbook will make a wonderful present for my wife. Most days I work until 5:30, no wait, 6:00, hold on, I mean 6:30 and I'm home by about 7:00 or 7:30, more like 8:00. I think you get the idea, this book could very well save my marriage. Okay, my marriage doesn't need saving, but a free cookbook would be AWESOME!!!!
This would be great with teenagers in sports and working full time.

I am now suscribr to newsletter and a follower thanks for chances
WOW! This broth is amazing. The cbmnioation of anise, coriander, garlic, and ginger was incredible. I made all kinds of substitutions based on the veggies I had on hand (including delicious mizuna greens), but the broth stole the show. It’s the kind of broth one would make a huge batch of and then freeze to have on hard for delicious and effortless week night soup bases Or reconstituting dried mushrooms?(Also, it seems like a great clean-out-the-fridge dumping ground for various veggies and proteins that need to get used up!)Thank you for this post! This will be an instant go-to in my repertoire.
I would love to win this cookbook so I could learn how to do some pretty serious cooking on the weekends and simply have to reheat OR have hubby reheat dinner during the week.
I'm not very creative so would love some new ideas.
As a busy mom to two kids under the age of three, I think I definitely qualify as someone who could use this book!

I would love to win this book so I can be well prepared for dinner when I get home from work at 6!

This would be wonderful because my husband does not work regular hours so it is often hard to prepare what to make to accomodate his schedule. It would be great to have something made already to pop in the oven.
You are totally fnarkieg my out with your wisdom here, because I have been terribly homesick for Arkansas, where I grew up. I’ve been thinking about how I seem to miss a lot of the things that I complained about (even the swampy heat and humidity!). I like your take on the saying, though. This time I’ve spent as an adult away from home has brought the important things into focus. By the way, the scenery in your photos is absolutely stunning.
I am trying to save money (for a wedding) and lose weight by eating out less. I am terrible at meal planning, so this book would go a long way to help me avoid the last minute “Oh let's just go out for dinner” thing that I seem to do several times a week.
