$25 Target Card and Wanchai Ferry Giveaway!

by Jamie
Have you ever had a craving for Chinese food but didn´t feel like dealing with the hassle of going out? Next time, why not stay at home and satisfy your craving with Wanchai Ferry Orange Chicken? This Wanchai Ferry “Perfect Night In” prize pack that includes one VIP coupon valid for a free package of any of the Wanchai Ferry frozen entrees, in addition to a set of great Asian-inspired rice bowls, chopsticks, bamboo place mats, flavored fortune cookies, and a $25 Target gift card.
I received this fun package last week from Wanchai Ferry through My Blog Spark. I whipped up the Wanchai Ferry meal for my husband. It was very quick and easy to put together. We were also thrilled to get some more chop sticks and serving dishes!
You know I used my gift card to buy some fancy dancy gear for my kitchen. I bought some great stack-able wire racks (I have been using some I got at the dollar store!) and a bunt pan. I am ashamed to say, I have never owned one before. Yes. It’s true. I’m excited to try out several great recipes.
MyBlogSpark would like to send one of these gifts packages to one of my readers. Hooray!

I LOVE to shop at Target! I always find the cutest kitchen stuff there, and sometimes it's marked down pretty cheap! Love the end caps! Thankfully it's an hour away, or I'd probably be broke!

I have enjoyed reading your blog. You bring the fun back into cooking for my little family of 5 girls. My favorite Asian dish has to be egg rolls with this absolutely delicious sweet and sour sauce from the lion house cook book. YUMMY!!

I would have to say my favorite Asian dish is General Tso's chicken. It's a mix of broccoli (my fave veggie) and spicy chicken. It's just right.

I love to shop at Target because they have all the hottest fashions of shoes and clothes. Their home decor section is one of the only places I will buy anything for my house. It fits my style perfectly.

First of all I want to let you know how much I love your blog. I use it all the time. As for my favorite Asian food…. My husband lived in Japan for a couple of years and makes great Japanese food. My favorite is Tonkatsu chicken served over sticky rice with pot stickers. Yummy!

I love Target! In fact, the other day a friend called me on my cell phone and when I told her I was at Target, she said, “You are always at Target!”. I love Target because they have a great variety of toys, housewares, clothes for my kids, etc..and it is a step above Wal-Mart. I love to go there without my kids and just peruse the aisles.

Favorite Asian Dish: Godzilla tempura roll with edemame beans and an avocado salad. If this sounds a lot like the menu at Miyo's that's 'cause it kinda is…

And if someone would just give me $1000 I could pretty much spend the next 24 hours of my life spending it all away at Target. Movies, books, decor, clothes, shoes, scarves, bags…Target is a definite guilty pleasure. 🙂

How interesting you should post this today. We just had lunch at a Chinese restaurant to celebrate that yesterday was the start of Chinese New Year – Gong Xi Fa Cai as they would say in Singapore. My favorite Asian food is pretty much only found in Singapore – a mix of different Asian cuisines – fried kway teo and baby kailan in oyster sauce.

And I also was at Target today checking out Valentine's clearance. I love the Target clearance and boys clothes.

Well, this is kind of a hard question for me to answer as I LOVE Asian food, especially Korean cuisine. I really love anything with curry, and specific to Korean, I LOVE kimchi chigay (pickled cabbage soup). What a coincidence that we were in Target checking out some of the clearance items today, after we had gone to celebrate the Chinese New Year with my dad and some friends at a local Chinese food place.

I love to shop at Target because (and I know this is probably lame) but the aisles are always clear. I despise shopping at you know where because there is always something blocking the aisles. Strange, I know. I am a follower and I also am a fan on facebook. Thanks for the chance. Have a great week.

I like Target because the quality is usually a little better than other similar stores, but the prices are still reasonable. I also love their clearance baby section. I got a cute dress for $4!
My favorite Asian food is lettuce wraps. My friend gave me the recipe to make it at home and it's simple and yummy!

To me this story represents way too much sneocd-guessing on both sides and not enough frank communications. First of all, I don’t understand why didn’t you simply ask the sales rep directly to explain how come she wasn’t able to meet her sales target while the rest of her colleagues in the sales team were able to meet theirs? That would have been the beginning of a far more productive dialogue to pinpoint precisely what was causing her to under-perform over the last six months, rather than you as a boss simply presuming that it was all down to her relationship troubles and that she was just using excuses to hide that “fact”. By not giving her the chance to confront the reality of the sales figures of the whole team you are denying her an opportunity for growth as well as being rather misogynistic in assuming that the reason a female sales rep may underperform must be due to boyfriend problems. If you don’t accept her rationale that her underwhelming performance was due to a downturn in the market, etc., why didn’t you say that to her face and explain your own reasons for why her excuses didn’t wash with you. That way she would have been forced to confront her own shortcomings – after all, problem recognition is the first step to problem resolution. Or maybe you would find out that there was still a legitimate reason why she underperformed whilst the rest of her colleagues met their sales targets. And if you really have grounds to suspect that boyfriend troubles may be the root cause of all this, you or your right-hand-woman Kelly could have asked her tactfully but directly about it to see if she herself considered that to be the reason. Simply assuming that personal issues might have been the reason without giving the employee a chance to confirm or disconfirm the assumption herself is NOT the way to helping the emplooyee even if personal issues were indeed the problem. And why did you have to hide the fact that you had been trying to help her by rescheduling the call rota? Explaining to her beforehand that this was what you were going to do in an effort to help her increase her sales leads would have given her fair warning about the changes she was going to face, because otherwise it would have been simply seen as disruptive to the sales team who had no clue why the call rota was changed (which was perhaps partly the basis to her claim that the sales team felt they were being messed about by you as the boss). Also, even if you don’t buy the story that her underperformance was to do with the market or the product, it would still have been helpful to really listen to her arguments rather than dismiss them out of hand. After all, she is a member of the frontline sales reps dealing directly with clients and competitors, and learning about the arguments being put forward by clients in declining your offerings would only be useful to the company ultimately. And perhaps if you have given her a chance and help her talk through the problems constructively, maybe you would discover that perhaps there is indeed a perception issue in some clients and maybe you need to change the sales propositions for some of your clients even though there’s nothing wrong with the product itself, that the sales pitch that she had been using previously no longer worked and so the problem is not that she underperformed because of her boyfriend troubles but simply that she needed to change her sales tactics. What has transpired instead seems like a lost opportunity and you seemed to have just taken the path of least resistence by just getting rid of an underperforming sals rep who was formerly a star on the team. I’m not saying that you’ve necessarily made a bad decision by getting rid of her – she is underperforming, after all – but it looks like it could have been a much more INFORMED decision if a frank and serious dialogue has taken place.

My best cheap date idea is to enter every giveaway you can find for movie tctieks and look for coupons for buy 1 get 1 free dinners. My daughter and I went to see Harry Potter at Imax yesterday with free movie tctieks and then we went to Subway for dinner. The whole thing cost me $6 because I the free movie tctieks were only good up to $12 each, but IMax was $15. And I had won a Subway GC.This is not to say that I go on dates with my daughter LOL. I’m just pointing out that I could just as easily have done this on a date. And the whole thing would have been free if we’d gone to a regular movie and not the IMax that she really wanted to see.
