I am taking a little recipe break, because I have recently read a book that is so amazing and inspirational, I couldn’t help but tell you about it. Just in case you know how to read, and enjoy doing so on a regular basis. 🙂
Unbroken is written by Laura Hillenbrand. It’s the biography of Louie Zampernini, Olympian Athlete and World War II survivor.
It is difficult to read at times, due to the insanely harsh and unbelievable conditions Mr. Zampernini experienced during the war. However, the story is compelling, riveting and immensely moving. It’s the kind of book that makes you grateful just to lay your head down at night on a clean pillow in the safety of your own home. Page after page I found myself in complete awe of Louie Zampernini, his constant will to live, the strength of his character, and his kindness to those suffering around him. It left me wanting to be better, do better, live better.
Read it, my friends. Your time will be well spent.

My favorite most recent book is “The Help.” I am so ashamed of how people treat other people when we are all God's creatures. I hope this book opens the eyes of many to be gracious and treat others the way we would like to be treated.
I actually am on my 5th book since Christmas, Thanks Santa for the Kindle Fire. Two of the books are written by Holocost survivors and the Hunger Games (could not put it down.)
I would really enjoy reading the give away book.
Thanks
My favorite books that I read last year are The Book Thief and Jane Eyre. Loved them!
The most practical book I have ever read that has been more help than I could ever describe is “Get Out of That Pit” by Beth Moore. It was phenomenal, profound, yet simple and down to earth. It helps with ANY myriad of issues one could be facing. A must read for sure…

My favorite book that I read this year was These is my words. Such a good story…but, also one that wants to make you beat up the male character in the book. Love your blog! Thanks for sharing!

I second “These Is My Words”. It's right up there with “Unbroken” and “Left To Tell” as the best 3 books I've ever read.
I couldn't give you one favorite book off of the top of my head, but the latest one I read that I really enjoyed is Kisses from Katie by Katie Davis. A.ma.zing. If you haven't read it yet, I would recommend checking it out!
I HAVE read Unbroken, and loved it. However, I wanted my husband to read it, and he didn't get to before I had to give it back to the library. I would love to own a copy, as I think my older kids would enjoy reading it as well. So inspiring!
My email is [email protected].
I have really enjoyed your blog. You are funny. I came here through Pinterest; a friend suggested I make braided sandwich loaves, and I needed a recipe that didn't call for frozen bread dough.
I have made it twice now – once as a cheeseburger, and once with pizza fillings, and everyone loves it. Your directions are clear and concise, and I appreciate all of the pictures that accompany them.
Well, this is a long comment, but thanks for the great giveaway and great recipes! You inspired me to buy quinoa after I had sworn it off. I once wrote a conspiracy theory blog post concerning it (http://susan-anyway.blogspot.com/2010/09/quinoa.html).
I still haven't busted out the quinoa, but I guess having it back in the pantry is one step closer to actually eating it.
I don't think I can pick just one book??
I loved The Help, just finished the trilogy of Tatiana & Alexander (The Bronze Horseman, Tatiana & Alexander, and The Summer Garden); I love anything by Beth Moore; am currently reading 3 books: Real Marriage, Twelve Extraordinary Women (for a Bible study I will be starting in 2 weeks) and a cute novel called Something Borrowed.
To Kill a Mocking Bird is an all time favorite. The Charlatan's Boy was a fun read. My son and I have read all of the Harry Potter books and enjoyed them. I like Kristin Hannah novels …. oh the list just goes on & on!!
I would love to read Unbroken and I'm sure my 15 year old son would love to read it too!! He loves anything that has to do with WWII!
I know it may seem silly but one of my all time favorite books is the Little House On The Praire series. I just love it and now I am enjoying sharing this love with my dd!
This book sounds like a great one – would love to win it !! Thanks 🙂 ~Beth

How do you pick just one?????? My list i long as I love to read, but i would have to say “These Is My Words” a wonderful read that tells her life story which was sad and hard and at times tender. It is a realistic view of life, love and romance in the late 1800's. Loved it!
I could never narrow my favorite book down to just one…maybe the top 100! The book I just finished reading that was my fav of 'The week' is Heaven is for Real'. I enjoy reading inspirational books and then passing them on. Thank You for Your posts and the giveaway!

Just love reading! One of my all-time faves is the Anne of Green Gables series. I'm ready to re-read Rainbow Valley about her children. She was a character I always admired. Definitely not a perfect person, but always willing to learn and grow from the experiences in her life. Thanks for your recipes and a chance to read a new book!

I love books and it's hard to pick one favorite, but most recently, I would have to say mine is “The Help.” We just watched the movie last night and I cried just as much as when I read the book. It's hard to imagine what the black community had to live through and I know this was just a smidgen of it. ([email protected])
My daughter just maentioned this book this week! How coincidental…NOT! God must want me to read it too…I'd love to win a copy. Books I really enjoyed were ones written by George McDonald. I love the old literary style and the strong Scottish brogue all the way through….they left me wanting to visit Scotland someday….
Oh forgot…email addy is freeindeed at myfairpoint dot net
This is on my list to read!! Currently reading Peach Keeper. Thanks for the chance!!!
I think that Unbroken is one of my all-time favorite books as well. I do not own it, and would absolutely love a copy! It is such a great story and helps people realize the Japanese POW side of WWII rather than just the Hitler side. It was one I couldn't put down. [email protected]
I'm currently reading a book entitled The Centurian's Wife. It is a good read so far. I would love to read Unbroken!
My favorite book is called “The Forgotten Garden” by Kate Morton. It is about a girl that is abandoned on a ship that is headed to Australia in 1913 and Her quest to find her true identity. This book has it all… tragedy, mystery, love and betrayal.

Two From Galilee by Marjorie Holmes. I love historical fiction!

Loved Unbroken (and would love a copy, too)! Currently read The Help which is another fave. My all time favorite book would probably have to be The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

“Unbroken” is an awesome, awesome book — and I'd love to win a copy! My favorite book is “A Tree Grows In Brooklyn.” I've read it almost every year since I was 13 and now I live in Brooklyn and get to “be” Francie. 🙂
I just can't narrow it down. I am working on reading Pride and Prejudice right now, and then I am hoping to read The Help. I am a big reader, I guess that is what happens when your mom is a librarian, LOL. Would love a copy of this book, History & Historical Fiction is probably my top category for books. Thanks

Unbroken sounds like a 'must have' book ! I read many, and my favorites depend on the day, the book, the circumstances. An old book, but one that is great for young mothers with kids is “Play it where the sun shines” by Ann Johnson and “To the Rescue” a biography of Thomas S. Monson by Heidi Swinton. I love to read! – and eat ! – and cook ! [email protected]
I love to read and exciting mystery adventure books are some of my favorites. I also like novels set back in the “olden times”. I don't know if I can narrow down my favorite book but I really enjoyed “The Gable Faces East” by Anita Stansfield. OR….how about The Book of Mormon….that's a really good one too. [email protected]
I LOVE to read so it's hard to choose a favorite. I highly recommend Same Kind of Different As Me. Based on a true story about unlikely friends and the struggles we have. I'm currently reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Would love to win a book. Thanks, Tanya tanya(at)tstewart(dot)com
I have been looking for a good book to read and this sounds like the one. Love reading a variety of books & can't really narrow one down that's my fav. [email protected]
I really liked “The Help”. It helps give the reader a sense of how far racial relations have come in this country in the past 40-50 years. I was touched by the relationship between the maids and the children they cared for. I also really liked the movie version of the book, even though I cried at the end!

One of my favorite books is “These Is My Words.” I love the story line: I laughed, I cried, I fell in love with Captain Jack…good stuff. Beyond that, however, I love the main character in this story. She is the perfect example of a strong and courageous woman, with a dash of spunk, and a sprinkle of sass (I hope that you appreciate my use of cooking vernacular–extra credit?)!
Lori Jo Leonard
I actually have two favorite books. It is hard to choose! My first is Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett which was like a medieval soap opera. The second is Memoirs of a Geisha. I am reading John Green's “The Fault in our Stars” at the moment which is super fantastic as well! After that, nothing to read! So. . . . hope I win! Jen Westgate [email protected]
A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. I have heard great things about Unbroken and would love to read it. [email protected]
Sweet Hush is the story of an apple farmer and her family. I am having trouble being able to put it down. But sometimes I must. When that moment has passed, I pick it up to start reading again. Sweet Hush by Deborah Smith..good reading..
Oh, this is fun! I am on the hunt for a new book to read and suggest for my book club and these are all GREAT ideas! I've read many of the favorites listed and would agree that they are all good. One of my favorites is an oldie – A Town Like Alice by Nevil Shute. I loved the historical aspects mixed in with tragedy and a love story. This book sounds similar – I would love to be the winner and get started reading right away! [email protected]
I love Phillippa Gregory! I like The White Queen and The Red Queen. Historical fiction at it's best!
[email protected]
My favorite book right now is similar to the one you are talking about. Lone Survivor is about a team of Navy Seals and a mission where three die and one survives. It is a great story about true heros. I cry everytime I read about how they fought until the last minute and the incredible determination to survive against all odds. Truly [email protected]
I love The Hiding Place by Cori Ten Boom. So good and inspirational. I even read it with my teeenager girls and it was a great experience. Would love to give Unbroken a try. Thanks! [email protected]
The most life-changing book I've ever read is The Hiding Place. I checked out Unbroken from the library, but I made the mistake of doing it while I was in the middle of several other books, so I never got to read it before I had to take it back!

My Book Club just read The Hunger Games, very different from the girly books that we have read in the past. Not only was I hooked instantly, but so was my husband and two sons. Now on to book #2 of the series.
I really enjoyed Th Help (before the movie came out) and I love the Hunger Games series. I so hope the movie is close to the book! I love hearing about books people have enjoyed. Sometimes it's hard to walk into the library and find one that really gets your attention. Thanks!
I have been wanting to read this! My most recent favorite read
Is the help.

i would love this book — i just finished 'particular sadness of lemon cake' and loved it!
I have too many favorites to mention. I read A LOT … about 2 books a week. I would love to add this one. 🙂

Two of my all time favorites are “East of Eden” and “To Kill A Mockingbird.” Have heard so many good things about “Unbroken.”
Thanks!

I had several friends tell me that Unbroken was as awesome read! I hope I win! hee hee…. One of my favorite books is The Crimson Petal and the White by Michael Faber, it's a historical fiction novel set in Victorian times. Well written, great characters… I felt like I had ended a relationship when the story ended. Cheers, [email protected]
I LOOOOOOOVVVVVEEEEEE that book! Hands down one of the best 5 books I've ever, and probably will ever read. I don't own, sadly, but hopefully I will very soon ;). Another book, similar to Unbroken, that is just completely amazing, is Left To Tell. Simply amazing. I hope you get to read it one day, if you haven't already.
My favorite book right now is Honey I Wrecked the Kids by Alyson Schafer. Best parenting book EVER! A must read.

Okay one of my favorite books is The Host by Stephanie Myer who wrote the Twilight series. It is a little more adult. About an alien species who take over the human race and the relationship between 1 alien and her “host” who refuses to vacate her body. Weird sounding I know but SUCH a good book.
It's really hard to pick just one favorite. I loved My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. I also love everything by Emily Giffin. Especially Heart of the Matter,
I LOVE books, but most recently my favorite book is Second Chance by Jane Greene. The whole book revolves around a set of old high school friends that are brought back together because of a tragedy. Minus the tragedy part (thank goodness) it reminds me so much of my own high school friends. We may be miles away, but we always pick up right where we left off every time. 🙂
When I was in high school, there was a Book by the name of Man in a Box, it was a war story in which a prisoner was being kept in a box, and a young boy helped free him, this book has never left my mind. In fact, our 8th grade has employees come in and review their favorite, in which I have done. My mom passed away a year ago, and in honor of her the 8th grade at the school I work, bought and donated this book in her honor. It has recently been re published. I loved the book big hair and flying cows is was so hilarious. [email protected]
I just read and loved the descendants. While the story was sad, I found the author successfully balanced it with the humor of everyday life. It just worked and the main character is my favorite literary dad since Atticus finch.
