A Pretty Wedding Shower

This past weekend I had the pleasure of hosting a wedding shower for our dear cousin. Love me a good wedding or baby shower, don’t you?

Extra special food and wonderful people all gathered together to celebrate a happy change in someones life. Yes ma’am (or sir), there are a lot of things to love about a shower.

This week I’ll be posting every day. (Think shower food, alright? Frilly food, fancy food, special occasion food.) I have several new recipes to share with you, a tutorial and even a giveaway.

Now, do not be dismayed if you came here today looking for something to cook for dinner. Next week I’ll be back to my regular MakeThisForDinnerAndYourFamilyWillKissYou posting. In the mean time make some Crispy Cheddar Chicken while we talk about pretty food, won’t you? It has been my most popular recipe for quite some time now. Folks seem to really love it. If you haven’t tried it yet, it may just earn you a kiss or two. 🙂

Alrighty then, let me show you how the shower went down.

What in the world are those? You may or may not be wondering. My girls lent a willing hand here and wrapped up the utensils and napkins with curling ribbon. We made some little printable graphics to slide into the forks. Let me just add at this juncture, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have attempted this utensil project were my girls not super excited and willing to help. Just throwing that out there. 🙂

For lunch we had these wonderful, fresh tasting french bread sandwiches that I ordered from…

get ready
you may not believe it
it’s a really great trick to learn
these sandwiches, lettuce, tomato and red onion came from…

Walmart

It’s true. You can order 6 of these babies, plus condiments and toppings for $28.00. I do believe that is a fair amount less than you would spend purchasing all of the ingredients and putting them together yourself. It’s a great way to feed a crowd for minimal expense and very little time.

We also served this very fabulous Blueberry Jello Salad and Oriental Cabbage Salad (not pictured) made by two of my sisters in law.

This Green Salad with Cinnamon Pecans and Feta has become one of my standard favorites for taking to potlucks and get-togethers. It’s a real crowd pleas-er and can be put together quite quickly.

Almond Butter Sugar Cookies have also become a favorite of mine. The cookie dough is rolled into balls and then baked instead of rolled out flat and cut into shapes. This saves a lot of time (and mess). The cookies, without the frosting, can be made ahead and frozen. When you are ready to use them just pop them out of the freezer, let them thaw, pipe the frosting on and you are good to go.

Did I mention that I have a few new recipes and ideas to share with you?

Yummy things to make that are pretty as pretty can be and easier and quicker that you might think.

Yummy and Pretty, a good combination.

Wouldn’t you agree?

Hope you’ll join me all week long!

I got all of the black and white paper products at Walmart, including a plastic table cloth that I cut up and put in some of the baskets. I got the purple paper goods at Dollar Tree. The white serving platter and pedastal I got at Tai Pan.

The spread is beautiful! Did the sandwhiches come with meat on them too?!?
