{GIVEAWAY} Three years down, many more to go.

by Jamie

Three years ago, this week,  I started stock piling recipes on this little blog of mine. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing! My earliest photos are enough to make you want to grab a gag bucket and run for cover. Truly. They are exceedingly scary. I’ve learned a few things since that time, and hope to learn a lot more about food photography and internet technology in general! This old mind is a slow teach, let me tell you that. Sometimes when I look at HTML coding (or speak on the phone with the technical support guy from Liquid Web) I feel like I have been dropped off in a foreign country where everyone knows how to communicate but me. Did I mention my exceedingly slow mind? Or perhaps it’s just full of recipe ideas and big bags of butter and sugar. I suppose that could make a mind run slowly, now couldn’t it! Suffice it to say, the technical side of blogging has been a bit of a thorn in my side as of late. I appreciate your patience and support as I have moved from Blogger to Wordpress and struggle to figure out how to make things work over here! Good glory. Who knew it was going to be so difficult. 🙂

That said.

I really, really, really love writing this blog. I love looking for new recipes for you all, and thinking about ingredients and what you all might like to make for dinner. I absolutely love hearing your cooking success stories and how these recipes have worked out well for you and your loved ones.

I love all of you cute college students that make these recipes for your room-mates.

I love to hear from those of you living in Australia and Mexico and Japan and all manner of foreign type places.

I smiled all day when I got an email that said “So, are you a Mormon? I thought you might be when I saw that you have a lot of kids and cook with Jello.” That one made me chuckle.

I get a kick out of comments that say “If I die, my husband wants to marry you.” Um. I’m pretty sure he’d be GIGANTICALLY disappointed when he sees me in person. Running a food blog can really put a kink in a girls waist line, if you know what I am saying here. Could someone please dust off my gym pass…it’s all covered in flour and sugar.

I laughed and laughed when someone emailed to ask if I could send them a printable copy of my “Turkey Breast of Wonder” recipe. They have a filter set up that won’t let them access anything online with the word “breast” in it. HAHAHAHAHAHA. Still makes me laugh. Probly didn’t help that I named it “Turkey Breast of WONDER”. I will take precausions in the future. 🙂

I love hearing you took first place in a cooking contest when you made this.

I cried when I got an email from a dear woman whose son is battling leukemia. I cried even more when she told me “I read your blog ever day just to see what normal people are doing and eating. It’s a nice comforting place to be.”

I love running into you at the grocery store, and meeting you at Discount Tire. 🙂 I love that you share my blog with your friends and family. I love that you come here, read my ramblings and make these recipes.

You are wonderful.  Thank you for making my day so many times over.

I have $100 Amazon Gift Card I would love to give to one of you. To enter the giveaway just leave me a comment at the bottom of this post telling me what kind of recipes you would like to see more of here on this little blog. I love a little feedback. 🙂 Winner will be announced on Monday morning.

Have a great Halloween, everyone! Be safe and carefull. No post tomorrow, due to the Holiday. Hope to see you back here on Thursday!

I like recipes that only require simple ingredients that the average person might have on hand or readily available at the local grocery store. I hate to buy a bunch of whatever only to use one sprig. Just love most of your recipes, the lemon cookies are to die for.

I am interested in finding more freezer friendly recipes, or where you can prep several dishes and then freeze them until Dday(dinner day 🙂

Thanks for the great recipes!

I would like some fish recipes that make fish not taste “fishy”, if you know what I mean! I don’t mind it as long as it doesn’t taste the way it smells. 🙁

I joined your website only in July, but I love it! MANY happy returns.

Hi Jamie, Just to let you know I Absolutely love allll your recipes and your blogg is wonderful. You have great wit and charm I might add. I work 10-12 hours a day M-F at a very busy Doctors office, when I’m done there I go home to my lovely but disabled daughter whom I then pick up with her care, which includes getting up several times during the night (she had a double lung transplant with severe complications). Anyway I just wanted you to know how I distress before I go home to enjoy her, after I clock out I log on to your blog for about 10-30 minutes and discovered that it helped me distress a lot before going home, so THANK YOU and keep the great recipes coming.

I have been following your blog for over a year now. The best part is that my kids have been using your blog to find recipes and make them for the family! We have a family game night once a month where the person who chooses the game also makes a homemade dinner and desert for the family. My kids always go to your site first and it is always a great success. I should say that I have 2 sons and a daughter and they all love your site. I was out of town for 6 weeks and my husband used your blog because it showed him how to make the recipe!! Keep up the good work and post anything your heart desires – We will be watching!!! Thank you!!

I discovered your blog just recently, quite by accident. I’ve never been a dedicated blog follower, but yours has simply transformed my family. I’ve always been the cook in my family, but the past couple years with a job that requires 60-70 hours per week of my time has really put a crimp in that preference for everyone in my family. During that time, my youngest with diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, and it’s been so stressful, thinking about the need for a good diet for her and my inability to provide it because of work. My husband, having always adamantly opposed becoming involved in the kitchen, has finally taken up the challenge, thanks to your blog! He’s found the recipes wonderfully easy to follow, and the great pictures the most engaging thing since Monday night football. I can now come home from work and actually recuperate for the next day with the peace of mind that my daughter has eaten a good dinner, all thanks to you! The only thing that could make this blog better for us would be some diabetic friendly sweets recipes.
