These wonderful Crock Pot BBQ Chicken Sandwiches are quite simple to put together and require minimal ingredients. Not only are they easy to make, but they taste fabulous. My whole family loves them. The shredded chicken has a saucy, slightly zesty, smokey flavor that is ever so tasty. Serve them on a sesame seed bun with a nice slice of Swiss or provolone cheese and dinner will be a happy occasion.
I like to serve them with Crispy Parmesan Oven Fries and Watermelon chunks.
I’ve included instructions for both the Crock Pot and the Instant Pot!
Hope you enjoy!
Let me show you how to make it happen…
1. Find yourself some Sweet Baby Ray’s. You need 1 (12 ounce) bottle, or 1 1/2 cups worth. Pour it into a medium-sized bowl.
2. Add 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce.
1/2 cup Zesty Italian Dressing,
and 1/4 C brown sugar. Take a whisk and stir it all together to combine.
4. Place 6 chicken breasts (about 3 1/2 pounds) in to a 4 quart crock pot. Pour the sauce over the top. Cover and cook on low for 7 hours or on high for 3 1/2-4 hours, depending on how quickly your crock pot cooks.
5. When the chicken has cooked through and easily falls apart…
Remove it from the crock pot and place it on a plate.
Shred it up with two forks.
Then place it back into the crock pot and give everything a nice stir, allowing the chicken to get well coated.
Serve on Hamburger buns with a slice of provolone or Swiss cheese.
Enjoy!
Here’s the handy printable.
Ingredients
- 6 chicken breasts (about 3 1/2 pounds)

- 2 T Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 C Kraft Zesty Italian Dressing
- 1/4 C brown sugar
- 8 hamburger buns
- 8 slices Swiss or provolone cheese (optional, but really tasty!)

LOVE the new web site. Great job on the changes to the site and keep those great recipes coming. You’re the best:)
Love your site and recipes! When we pin the recipe it isn’t putting in a title, description, or your website name? Why?
Heartwings,
Thanks for your feedback. The pin it button is a new feature of the blog redesign, making it an option to pin any of the recipes, not just the first of the post. The title of the picture and the website name will be attached in the future. Thanks,
~Jamie
I’m not sure you understand your own web design. The top right pin button should be for the website. The pin button underneath the recipe should be for that individual recipe. There are two pin buttons for different uses on most web pages. It’s to your advantage to have the recipe title and your name attached to the pin. Something has to be there.
Yum! This looks so good and easy! My family will love this!
The new website looks great! I have pinned many of your recipes and just want to remind you…. close-up, yummy looking food, a tall picture (portrait instead of landscape) and one w/o wording on it, will get the most pins and hits on your site.
Nancy, I like wording on the pics and tend to pin more of them. Also, pins can’t be made without something even a . in the description. Perhaps a personal choice?
Sounds yummy! Cannot eat bbq pork sandwiches due to the fat content so this would be a great substitute! Thanx for sharing
don’t usually buy bottled dressing anymore, but think I’ll try this both with breasts and thighs. Hubby is a bbq nut.
I made this last night for my husband and son and they both loved it! I didn’t try it as my tastebuds are undergoing some radical changes – chemo is so much fun- but the aroma in my kitchen while it was cooking was amazing. 🙂

Made this for dinner and it was amazing!! Used frozen chicken so it was watery at first but thickened up thankfully.
As a single guy without a wealth of kitchen experience… I must say, your pictured step by step instructions are really easy and fun to follow. I am excited to try this out tonight and more of your recipes in the future!

I have been looking for a yummy and easy recipe for potluck get-togethers. This looks like it might be the one! Can’t wait to try it.
I’ve been making this for awhile and just wanted to come back and say how amazing it is. Its so good and so easy. A definite go to meal for my family. I also love the provolone cheese. I never would have thought of that but it just sends it over the top.
Making this for dinner tonight. Just put the chicken back in the sauce. “This is good, we should just eat it now!” Said Captain Husband. To heck with family dinner, bonding with the children and all of that. If we eat it now at 2:00pm what meal does that make it? A Hobbit would know!
