Dripping with the spicy flavors of buffalo sauce, these fabulous sandwiches are sure please those of you with an affection for food with a kick. They are super easy to put together, only 10 minutes prep on this one, guys! You just toss some chicken into the crock pot (frozen chicken breasts work out fine!), pour a buffalo/ranch sauce over the top and let it simmer throughout the day. When your hungry crew is ready for dinner, just shred the chicken up, slather a bit of ranch or blue cheese dressing over some crusty rolls, top with the chicken, some cool cheddar cheese and crisp lettuce. A great combination, wouldn’t you agree?
I love these, I really do.
Spicy goodness at it’s best!
Make them for dinner, have some for lunch. Serve them on Game Day, your Birthday or just to celebrate plain old Wednesday Evening.
Hope you love them, guys. Let me show you the details…
Let me show you how to make it happen…
1. Grab a jar of Franks Red Hot Wing Sauce and some Hidden Valley Ranch Mix.
2. Pour the hot sauce into a sauce pan…
and add 2 tablespoons of the powdered Ranch Mix. Give it a nice stir so the ingredients become well combined. Heat it on the stove until its bubbly.
3. Spray a 3-4 quart crock pot (or larger) with cooking spray and place 5 chicken breasts into it (I used frozen). Pour the hot sauce mixture over the top of the chicken. Isn’t that a gorgeous color of orange!
4. Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 7 hours, or on high for 4 hours.
5. Shred the chicken with two forks…
and add 2 tablespoons of butter. Give it a nice stir to combine.
6. Slice some nice crusty ranch style rolls and place some chicken on top.
Add a slice or two of cheddar cheese. Yum. Don’t leave the cheese off, it’s so great!
Spread a bit of Blue Cheese or Ranch Dressing onto the sandwich…
and top it off with a little bit of shredded lettuce. You could even add some chopped celery if you are looking for more of a crunch.

They look great! Are they spicy? We’re wimps in our house. And if so, would regular barbecue sauce taste good instead?
start off with less hot sauce if it’s still a little to spicy, add some extra butter to taste.
I love these kinds of sandwiches!
Pinning to try soon!
I’m with Molly…we are wimps as well. They look amazing, but the franks sauce is too spicy for my kids.
Molly and Petra,
It would be great with regular BBQ sauce! Definitely less spicy. Good luck! Let me know if you try it and how it works out. 🙂

Looks awesome, can’t wait to try! My boys love Frank’s hot sauce. The ranch type rolls look amazing what kind & where did you purchase them? Thank you for all your delicious recipes!
Sallie,
I got the ranch style rolls from walmart. They are really great and stay fresh for a long time. 🙂 Best of luck to you!

I made these and they tasted fantastic! The only substitution I made was to leave out the bread and serve them in lettuce wraps for a lower carb value. Thank you!

Hey Jillee,
Great recipe! We used them in lettuce wraps instead of buns and they were great that way, too!
Thank you for the delicious recipe! I got home too late to put in the crockpot, so I made it in the oven. Used a enamel coated cast iron Dutch oven. First put on stove top, heated the Buffalo sauce and ranch, dumped in the frozen chicken and turned with tongs to coat. Put the lid on and baked at 325 for 1.5 hours, shredded with forks right in the pot and back in the oven for 30 min. Worked awesome if you have the ingredients but not 4 or 7 hours!

Thanks for the great recipe. I love your site, but it freezes my computer up every time I visit! 🙁
You can always use Hooters mild sauce instead of other brands were also wimps but I love Hooters mild/medium sauces they carry in the store now.

Can you substitute the dry ranch mix for ranch dressing?
Hi Maria,
Thanks for your question. I haven’t ever tried it with ranch dressing, though my thoughts are that it wouldn’t work quite as well. Often times thick creamy ingredients don’t bode well in the crock pot.
Hope this helps!
