Cherry Republic Gift Basket GIVEAWAY (times two)

by Jamie

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED

This past December I was sent a fabulous gift basket from Cherry Republic. Wow, was I impressed!  Not only are their products high in quality, the taste of each one is simply fabulous. The chocolate covered cherries were of course wonderful…

and the Chocolate Cherry Toffee, oh mama. It is out of this world fabulous! The flavor of cherry is quite subtle in the toffee. Even MyHandsomeHusband who claims to be a “hater of all things cherry” gobbled it up.

He also loved the Cherry Salsa, the Cherry Summer Sausage, the Chocolate Covered Cherries. I carefully mentioned that perhaps he doesn’t have a hatred for cherries after all. To which he responded with “Well, I don’t hate these cherries. Every thing we have eaten from that basket is down right divine.”

And there you have it, ladies and gentlemen. Truth spoken straight from the biggest food critic living under this roof of mine. Cherry Republic is fantastic! If you are looking to send a package to your sweetheart this Valentines Day, consider going the Cherry Republic route. You will not be disappointed.

I already had “liked” Cherry Republic, so I clicked like for Cherry Republic of Traverse City, Ann Arbor, and Charlevoix! My husband plan to travel to Traverse City again, which I’d like to go twice this year in order to also enjoy the wonderful farmers market along the river just north of Front Street as well as Cherry Republic….once in the summer when the veggies are available, and then again in the fall when I can buy apples, which nobody has as awesome of Honey Crisp apples as they do!! Shopping at Cherry Republic and the farmers market are well worth the 6 hr. drive for me as well as the fishing for my husband. I may be a Buckeye from Ohio, but I really do love that area of Michigan and can’t wait to go back. Gosh, I really hope this doesn’t lessen my chance of winning one of the gift baskets?

Decisions, decisions…I would love to try the new Dark Chocolate Cherry Toffee but I really do like the Green Cherry Salsa, the Cherry Nut Mix is a must but I really did enjoy the Michigan Bridge Mix in 2012 that wasn’t offered in 2013…maybe Cherry Republic can mix up a special sample for me? :o)

The thing about the Cherry Republic is….that it’s about the cherries. You can get chocolate covered cherries lots of places…but you won’t taste the cherries…same with the jams, jellies, and even the bbq sauce….it’s about the cherries!!!

I have been a fan of Cherry Republic for a very long time and surprise my friends with goodies frequently. I cant find anything that I don’t absolutely love, so I just keep nibbling my way through. This past holiday season I served my Turkey stuffing muffins with a surprise of dried cherries folded in, what a winner that was! I’m glad I hid a couple in the freezer for later. I love the Salsa over chicken, Spicy BBQ Sauce, choc covered, preserves. ..but I live the large box of dried cherries, to divide, freeze and of course share…if I must!

I have been ordering the Original Cherry Salsa for years. It is my favorite salsa of all time and I find it hard to eat any other flavor now. I’d love to try some of their other products.

My husband and I were in Glen Arbor in 2009 and went for a walk after dinner on Sunday evening – looking for the Cherry Republic store. We found it – but alas – it was closed! We wandered around the grounds for a few minutes, reading all the signs, saying we’d have to come back the next day when they were open. Just as we were ready to leave, a large friendly group came walking up and asked if we were there for the free ice cream. We said no we had just been walking and wanted to find the Cherry Republic store. ‘Bob’ introduced himself, unlocked the ice cream store and invited us to join his extended family in having ice cream! The whole group was very friendly, welcoming, and very funny – we had a wonderful time and the ice cream was a real treat! We made it back to the store the next day and purchased a number of items. The dried cherries and chocolate covered cherries are outstanding – but our favorite item is the chocolate cherry coffee. We order it online and treat ourselves to the wonderful flavor at least once a week – yum!!!

Ta heck with ‘Mom, baseball, & apple pie’,,,,IT SHOULD BE “CHERRY PIE” !!! Cherries have been my favorite fruit since childhood, and have been since my Mom and Grandma would make all sorts of bakery and preserves from our cherry trees every year ! I’m 5th generation on Little Traverse Lake, and have been going into Bob’s first store since it opened 25 years ago. Not only do we get OUR favorite “Cheery Cherry” treats from Bob’s Glen Arbor store for ourselves, but we also get them for our family members and friends for Christmas and birthdays. This last Christmas we included in their gift boxes, each one of Bob’s coffee mugs! (I chose the taller one for all the guys and the shorter one for all the gals. They all were ecstatic about them, but couldn’t wait to start on the cherry edibles. ) And if it’s a ‘close-call/forgot-the-occasion’ situation, it’s so easy to order online and have something delivered, even on time !!! When family and friends come to visit every summer, The Cherry Republic in Glen Arbor is the place they all want to go first.
As far as MY favorites: Looks aren’t everything, as far as Cherry Republic’s cherry goods go. Taste is truly it. Though too hard to choose any one favorite, the two I most buy for myself are the Turtles and the Sour Cherry Patch candies. The toffee just may be in the running for top ‘seed’….(pun intended)
Thanks Bob, for making cherries RULE in Leelanau County, and I love reading your newsletters and all about your Mom and your family. And thanks to you too, Jamie, for your marvelous recipes !!!
Time ta go have some milk chocolate covered cherries for lunch !
(Jamie, I don’t know if I said too much here, or if this is what ya want for a ‘winner’,,,,but I just couldn’t help myself,,,lol)

Jamie, I just ‘Liked’ Cherry Republic on Facebook. Now it’s time to get my pork ribs ready for dinner, of course SMOTHERED with Bob’s Cherry Barbeque Sauce,,,,yum !!! And later tonight in front of the big screen, we’ll be snackin’ on Triple Cherry Granola.

(Boy Dave, you sure can be long-winded,,,,must be the natural sugar-high I get from eating too many Cherry Republic’s goodies !!!)

I have been a cherry lover forever, and when I fell in love (in high school) with my now husband of almost 39 years, I used to call him Cherry Barry…because of course, he loved cherries too:) We started vacationing in Glen Arbor in 2003 and now live here about 5 months of the year…and lucky for us our Cherry Republic is just a jaunt down the street. A few years ago I wrote a poem for my grandchildren, because I missed them when they were not with me in GA. Part of it went…Auggie and Addie Dede misses you, the sky and the water they are so blue, like Adeline’s Eyes. Fly away, fly away, fly UP North we will pick you up at the Trverse City Port….Cherry cones, sodas, floats we will eat, the Republic is just a jaunt down the street….Well, anyway I now have 5 g-kids that just have to get to the Republic as fast as they can upon arrival in GA…Sour cherry balls are the favorite treat:) I personally use the cherry salsas in my chilli, and we give the big jars as gifts all the time. But, my personal favorite are the cherry chocolate coffee beans:) Long live the cherry trees!

The cherry toffee would be fun to try. I love the store in A2 and am slowly working my way through all the products. I have tried the granola, chocolate cherries, coffee, peanut butter, and jams, and butters. This is my Cherry Republic Michigan mission.

I “liked” Cherry Republic and have liked it for over 20 years. We travel to Glen Arbor and sample products and send gifts to family. Yet the best product of all is still the dried cherries. Each individual cherry is a burst of fantastic flavor. It’s like a memory of summers spent at the beach and riding bikes around Glen Arbor. By the way, great blog and recipes. Thank you

I’ve loved Cherry Republic for a long, long time. And love their FB page of course! They used to make a black cherry tea that I just couldn’t get enough of. I’m dying to try the cherry peanut butter! I mean it’s a combination of my 2 favorite things ever. How could you go wrong?? 🙂
Lovely blog btw!! I’m definitely keeping this in my favorites and will be passing along to others!
