The Weekend Report: When It Was Still FROZEN (GIVEAWAY)

by Jamie

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED

The weather is starting to warm up here in Utah, but back a few weeks ago this is what it looked like at Bear Lake.  It was like an eternal winter. Truly. I couldn’t imagine where all that snow would go.

IMG_2251_edited-1

We invited up a few of our close friends to hang out with us. We hid out  in the warm cabin while buckets and buckets of snow came showering down.

I could swear there was at least 4 feet of fresh snow.

IMG_2091_edited-1

We didn’t mind a bit. We chatted, and visited…played some cards…

IMG_3059_edited-1

indulged in a few delicious confections. Might I recommend this  fabulous Almond Joy creamer. Please  pour it in a mug of  hot chocolate at your earliest convenience. It’s heaven in a cup, baby.

IMG_2107_edited-1

After we had been inside for quite a while, a few choice individuals couldn’t stand it one minute longer. The eternal winter was closing in, man.  This particular wild cat threw off her comfy socks, rolled up her pjs and just Let It Go, baby.  Can you believe all that deep snow out there!

IMG_2117_edited-2

She couldn’t believe it either. For The First Time In Forever, she ran around in circles with snow up to her knee caps.

IMG_2118_edited-1

And then, my guests started dropping like flies. Out into the snow they went…

IMG_2134_edited-1

running and jumping around like they didn’t have a care in the world. I may or may not have passed out on the living room floor from laughing so hard. Now, I don’t know much, but there is one thing I know for sure…I always want to have wonderful people around to laugh at with. That familiar saying  about laughter being the best medicine? It rings true for me.

IMG_2181_edited-1

Running through the snow in your bare feet is funny to watch, but it turns out to be a little more pleasant when you put your shoes and socks back on. Note to self.

IMG_2195_edited-1

Cool cat.

IMG_2200_edited-1

Whoa, who let that girl with the yellow hat out of her cage? The hat was 25 cents at Walmart, okay. I just could pass it up. Now that I see it from a distance and on my actual head, I may never wear it again. Another note to self.

IMG_2210_edited-1

We did a bit of sledding…

IMG_2226_edited-1

had a snowball fight or two…

IMG_2231_edited-1

or three…

IMG_2233_edited-1

and then we  played in the snow until it was dark outside and we felt like drinking some  more Almond Joy Creamer Hot Chocolate. There was a lot of laughter to be had right in the middle of the FROZEN winter. Who would have thought. It was one of my best winter memories, for sure.

We have been loving Disney’s  FROZEN soundtrack all winter long, have you heard it?  I hate to admit it, but sometimes I listen to it when my kids aren’t around. I know, juvenile isn’t it? I can’t help myself. It puts a big old smile on my face and quite frankly I feel proud to be walking the same planet as the people who are talented enough to write something so clever and endearing. Love it. There are a lot of great messages there.

FROZEN is coming out on DVD this week, on March 18th I believe.  I would love to give 3 of you a DVD/SOUNDTRACK combo pack. All you have to do is leave me a comment telling me one of the things you loved doing this past winter.

Before you know it, spring will be showing her pretty face…

…and that is a beautiful thing in its own right.

The Giveaway will be open until Tuesday March 18th at midnight. Winners will be announced and contacted on Wednesday March 19th, bright and early with the sunshine.

DISCLAIMER: This is not a sponsored post, just a little gift from me to you.

I love soaking in a hot tub when it’s cold outside. I also love all the fresh citrus to eat or juice. (my winter weather is your spring!)

We had 2 snowstorms here in GA. The most fun we had was building a snowman with our 2 and 3 year old, watching the 2 year old go sliding on the ice, and a snowball fight.

One of our favorite things to do each winter is take a group of teens to a winter retreat for a weekend. Some years there is no snow, but this year we had snow and everything was literally FROZEN! 🙂 There was a major snowstorm on the way home Sunday, but we had a great time connecting with the teens and so many new memories made! 🙂

Living in MN we had plenty of snow and frigid days this winter. I love the quietness of the snowy days. All the other noises of the world seem muted when the snow is falling.

I live in Duluth, MN. We were truly Frozen this winter (69 straight days of below zero temps). I spent the winter gaining trust and showing lots of love to a 37 year old male Lesser Cockatoo that I rehomed. I wouldn’t change it for anything – he is getting his feathers back, that he had plucked in his former home. I work with a parrot rescue but have fallen in love with him and have decided that this shall be his forever home!

This year was the very first year since my daughter was born that it actually snowed here (Fayetteville, NC)! So this year, my 4 year old and I made the worlds smallest (lopsided) snowman and she had the time of her life! Bribery with hot chocolate was needed to come inside. Best winter ever!

We had one snow storm this winter (which is about average for us) but it seemed particularly fun because after what happened in Atlanta, everyone was a bit gun shy and got out of work and school early and were home for FOUR whole days! Lots of inside and outside play and lots of warm drinks by the fire. We’ll have to try that creamer though!!

I loved spending an overnighter with just my husband at a friend’s cabin for our anniversary in December. Loved having the real live fire place going (not a gas one!) with the snow outside and all the little shops, etc decked out in Christmas decor. So rejuvenating to have a night without the kiddos! ???? And frozen is the first “girl movie” my boys have showed any interest in…like ever…so I’m super excited about that!!

I loved going to drill team performances and competitions. My youngest is a senior in high school, and this winter I’ve been able to attend her performances. It’s hard to believe she’ll be graduating soon and moving to attend college.

Houston had an oddly colder winter but not bad. My sister in Michigan had a blustery winter. I enjoyed having an excuse to check up on her and seeing how she was doing, more than I normally would. She shared pictures of all the snow they got, a lot! I love my sister. BTW, I love the BYU snowcap on your pic.

I loved sitting in my sunroom with its thermostatically controlled fireplace watching the birds at my feeders just outside the windows. We have deer, too, but they must hunker down sometimes trying to wait out the bad stuff. The snow sticking to trees and bushes is a beautiful sight. I could do without the ice and sleet, but snow is beautiful (in reasonable amounts).

I love winter in December and then I’m ready for it to be over. Living in Utah, that’s just wishful thinking! The best thing about this winter was a trip to Hawaii that my husband gave me for Christmas… I’m just trying to be truthful:).
