How To Host a Smores Bar Party

by Jamie

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending our stakes Girls Camp. You can read more about that amazing adventure here.
Lindsay and Angela resizedThese two wonderful ladies, Lindsay Monson and Angela Howells put together an amazing Smores Bar one night for dessert. They were kind enough to let me take a bunch of pictures and share them all with you. Pretty nice of them, yes? They went to so much work, searching for recipes for 7 different kinds of smores, putting together decorations and then stocking up on all of the ingredients. The girls and leaders absolutely loved it. Thanks Lindsay and Angela!

Now, let me show you what these fine ladies put together. 🙂

Cute flag decor!

At the start of the smore buffet line there was this cute menu so the girls could see all of the choices they would have. I wasn’t kidding when I said there were 7 different kinds of smores available. I actually didn’t even know there was more than one way to make a smore! Who would have thought.

Lindsay put together these fun little signs so the girls could see exactly how to make each one. We put the ingredients for each kind of smore in front its coordinating sign so they were easily accessible. The Elvis Smore was my favorite.

I didn’t get a chance to try the Mexican Hot Chocolate version, but it looked yummo!

We cut all of the Hershey Bars (including these Cookies and Cream Hershey Bars) in half with a pair of scissors. We figured it would be easier for the girls to grab them like this.

Salted Caramel? Yum!

Did you know marshmallows came in a “Caramel and Vanilla” flavor? Me either. Yum!

Mint and Chocolate are always a fabulous combination. At least in my book.

And, oh baby. What is this! Toasted Coconut Marshmallows?

Hot dang. These were my second favorite!

Strawberry and chocolate…always a great combo.

There was, of course… fire and a lot of marshmallow roasting sticks. It was fun to see which kind of smores the girls enjoyed.

Here is a tip for those of you who want to try 1 or 2 or 7 of these recipes but aren’t near a fire. 🙂 Stoke up your outside grill and toast your marshmallows over the open flame. You could also do this on a gas stove top. There’s nothing like a real fire, I realize. But your marshmallows will still get nice and toasty this way. Just wanted to point that out, in case you have some bananas and peanut butter cups burning a hole in your mind right now. Fire up your grill and make them into a smore, man. I bet you will love it!

Oooh – that sounds awesome! I, also, didn’t realize there were more ways to make S’mores! That Salted Caramel looks amazing!!! Well…they all do – will definitely have to find a reason to try these out. 🙂

My husband and I host at least three s’mores parties a year (we LOVE them!), but we just do regular marshmallows with regular Hershey’s and Reese’s. We are going to have to try some of these ideas! (And I need to find those caramel marshmallows!!)
