Hello my friends and welcome to my first recipe post in a good long while. I’ve taken a bit of a recipe posting break, as many of you have noticed. Thanks to those of you who have reached out to me, and for your concern over my well-being. 🙂 My family and I are doing well! We’ve been taking a little bit of time to regroup and clean up our eating habits more or less. 9 years of food blogging can leave a girl in a food coma, for sure. I am planning to begin posting more recipes and tutorials through the coming months and am excited about the prospects of doing so. Most of the new recipes I’ll be posting will be very healthy, with minimal amounts of fat, simple ingredients, easy cooking methods and (don’t worry!) wonderful in the taste department. I know that many of you are looking for those kind of recipes and hope you will join me in a more simplified, healthy approach to this food blog. Simple and healthy…that is something to be grateful for, yes?
I’m super excited about the recipe I have to share with you today. Many of you are familiar with the Crock Pot Turkey Breast of Wonder recipe that has been on the site for many years. I wanted to make an Instant Pot version and I’m so happy with the results. All you need for this amazing recipe is a few simple herbs you most likely all ready have in your pantry, an orange, a bit of chicken broth and a turkey breast. Simple! Wonderful! The turkey comes out super juicy, moist and easily shred-able. My kids were dying over it. Can’t wait to make it again! Hope some of you get a chance to try it. If not this Thanksgiving week, sometime soon!
It is super easy, of that you can be sure!

Jamie, did you take an internal temp reading after removing from Pot? We are having a 7.25 lbs turkey breast Thursday and we just got a Instant Pot last mon and only used a couple times. Would love to use the I.P.to free up the oven but I’m a little uneasy about over cooking.
Hi there,
Thanks for your question. I didn’t end up using a thermometer, but it was definitely not over cooked and dry. I think you will be safe with the 1 hour cooking time.
Best of luck!
~Jamie
Jamie,
What size instapot did you use? 6 or 8 quarts? Thanks!
Hi Laura,
Thanks for your question. I used an 8 quart instant pot.
Best of luck!
~Jamie
Jamie, I also have an 8 quart but it looks like you only use 1/2,cup broth in the turkey cavern. You don’t use broth in bottom of IP for steam? 2 cups for 8 quart normally required. ???
I’m really excited that you posted this recipe! I’ve been cooking the Crock-Pot version for years, but I was trying to see if I could find something that could cook my bird in the instapot. Of course, Jamie comes to the rescue! One question though. Would you recommend putting the bird on the trivet inside the pot? I would think that would make it much easier to get the bird back out after it’s cooked.
Courtney,
In my research ;), I noticed that many people used the trivet when making a turkey breast. I would suggest it as well, it was a little hard to get mine out, however it cooked well.
Hope this helps! Best of luck to you!

Thank you so much! Just in time! I bought my 7 lb breast this morning and had resigned myself to using the oven because I’m not a good cook. Now I can use the IP! Can’t wait for your new, healthy recipes as well.
This looks so delicious. The pictures are beautiful! I am excited for your new approach. While I love all of your scrumptious recipes, it will be nice to see some new, healthier ones. I lost 35 pounds about a year and a half ago and have kept it off and have really changed my diet and eating habits (I am 54 and too old to gain it back!!!). Have a wonderful holiday with your cute family.
Just a question for you Jamie: My turkey breast is 4 pounds. Should I reduce the cooking time for a 4 pound turkey breast in the Instant Pot? How long would you cook it? I want to try your recipe on Thanksgiving but don’t want it to be dry and overdone!
So glad you’ll be adding more healthy and delicious recipes on your website in the future. I trust your recipes and know they will always be good!
Hi Jessie,
Thanks for your question. Here is some information I found for you.
“The general rule of thumb for cooking poultry in the Instant Pot is is 6 minutes per pound with a 10 minute NPR (Natural Pressure Release).” You can read more about it at this site…https://www.jocooks.com/recipes/instant-pot-turkey-breast/
Hope this helps! Good luck! I’d love to know how it turns out if you have time to circle back and leave another comment.
Best,
~Jamie
Yumm????
Yumm????
Does the turkey breast you buy have a bone/carcass? The only ones I can find here in my area are boneless/skinless, wrapped in netting.
Hi Kathy,
I’ve only tried it with the bone/carcass variety, but I would imagine that the boneless/skinless would work just as well.
Best of luck!
~Jamie

Did you add any water to the bottom of the instant pot to help the pot come to pressure?
Love your crockpot version of the Turkey Breast of Wonder. It’s my all-time favorite way to cook a turkey. Question: did you add water or chicken broth to the bottom of the instant pot to help it come to pressure? Thanks!
I think that the orange juice and chicken broth would provide enough moisture, although, you could add extra broth! I think that would just give you more gravy!
