No recipe today my friends.
Please don’t panic. I have not fallen out of love with food. I’ll be sharing two new recipes with you before the week is complete. If you can’t wait that long click over to my recipe file where more than 400 recipes are just waiting to become your new best friend.
I am taking a little recipe break, because I have recently read a book that is so amazing and inspirational, I couldn’t help but tell you about it. Just in case you know how to read, and enjoy doing so on a regular basis. ๐
Unbroken is written by Laura Hillenbrand. It’s the biography of Louie Zampernini, Olympian Athlete and World War II survivor.
It is difficult to read at times, due to the insanely harsh and unbelievable conditions Mr. Zampernini experienced during the war. However, the story is compelling, riveting and immensely moving. It’s the kind of book that makes you grateful just to lay your head down at night on a clean pillow in the safety of your own home. Page after page I found myself in complete awe of Louie Zampernini, his constant will to live, the strength of his character, and his kindness to those suffering around him. It left me wanting to be better, do better, live better.
Read it, my friends. Your time will be well spent.

My favorite book is “Cold Sassy Tree.” The characters are laugh out loud funny! The story is entertaining and moving all at the same time.

One of my favorite books is Across Five Aprils by Irene Hunt. The setting is the Civil War. Much of the story takes place in the area where I live in IL. I enjoy good historical fiction and the mention of local places makes it even more readable for me. Thanks for the chance to win and the recommendation for this book.

My favorite book that I have read recently is Hunger Games. It is not anything that I would normally read, but I heard so many great things about this series. Really enjoyed reading it alot.

My favorite little-known book series has to be the Mrs. Pollifax books by Dorothy Gilman. She is an older lady, widow, children all grown up and not sure how to fill the remaining years. She decides to become a spy and goes to the CIA to sign up. They are hilarious books and she is the perfect spunky old lady. The first one is called “The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax”.

I hope its not too late… I actually just started reading Unbroken (borrowed from a friend) book with my husband and its been so exciting and enjoyable to ready with him. It is so interesting..We really have liked it alot! A series that took my by surprise was The Great & Terrible by Chris Stewart. I love to read and have so very many favorites. I'm not really good at picking only one favorite. A relatively recent favorite is “The Help”. Such an inspiring and riveting book. I loved the whole thing. Another favorite is “Exodus” by Leon Uris. It's an intriguing {fictional} story about Jews trying to get back to their homeland {I can't remember if it's set right at the end of WWII or just post-}. There's some tough stuff to read in that story and I wouldn't recommend it for everyone {the author doesn't spare a few graphics} but I loved it and have read it twice. I'm sure I'll read it again.
