To say this delicious Hot Fudge Cake is fabulous, would be a grand understatement, my friends. It’s been living and breathing on my site for many years, I’ve given it an update today with new pictures, instructions and slightly modified ingredients.

A fabulous, chewy, brownie like cake bakes over the top of a layer of hot fudge.

Resulting in a texture that is out of this world.

We like to serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. The ingredients are super simple, I do believe you have everything to make it in your kitchen right this very minute.

Let me show you how to make it happen!

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Into a large mixing bowl, place the flour, sugar, 3 Tb of the cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. Toss them together to combine.

Add the melted butter, oil, evaporated milk, oil and vanilla and stir to combine.

Spray a 9×9 baking pan (or 2.5 quart casserole dish). Spread the batter out evenly into the pan.

In a separate small mixing bowl, toss together the brown sugar and remaining 4 Tb of cocoa powder. Sprinkle it over the top of the first batter.

Carefully pour the hot water over the top of the ingredients and don’t stir it in, my friends. Please trust me, everyone. This layer of hot water is going to work its way down to the bottom of the pan, creating a velvety, heavenly fudge of wonder.

And bliss. 🙂

Carefully place it in the oven and bake for 30-40 minutes.

Remove from the oven and serve warm from the oven.

Enjoy!

    1. Linda,
I haven’t ever tried it with a substitute for the evaporated milk, but my thoughts are that regular milk would work in a pinch.
      Best of luck!

  1. I made this for dessert for Valentine’s Day and it was gobbled up by everyone at our table! I needed a great dessert with basic ingredients because my recently widowed mother-in-law joined us and she is allergic to soy. Your recipes always turn out delicious – kudos for the great work!
