THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED

Today, I really REALLY wanted to post a fabulous new recipe for you all. That was my plan all week-long, you see. But as luck would have it, my good intentions were rudely interrupted by fact that my kitchen sink simply decided to come unglued from her usual spot and fell right out from under the counter-top leaving me with no running water (or sink!) in my kitchen and 500 dirty dishes just begging to be cleaned.

This is not a joke.

Would I lie to you?

No way, man. I would not.

Good times around here, my friends. After I washed the previously mentioned 500 dishes (give or take 450) in my bathtub during the late night hours, I had a good nights rest and woke up ready and willing to serve my family cheap, five dollar pizza for the duration my small kitchen crisis. (Which should be over in the next 24 hours or so. At least that was the good news given to me today by MyHandsomeHusband aka Repair Man of Wonder).

And so, dear readers, instead of a new recipe for you today I am giving away one of my favorite kitchen appliances of all time.

Isn’t she a beauty!

I would love to give one of you lucky readers a brand spanking new Ninja Kitchen System 1200 (BL700), complete with a small and large pitcher and many different cutting blades (including a whipping blade and dough hook).

I absolutely adore this contraption. I use it for all kinds of things, including smoothie making, chopping nuts, veggies, blending up graham cracker crumbs for crusts, making salad dressings, whipping cream, blending dips..etc, etc, etc…I have even used it in a pinch to make cookie dough and bread dough! Amazing, it is.

I use mine every day.

Just like I used to use my kitchen sink every day.

Until she went rogue on me. Dang thing. Hoping once she has been restored to her full glory, we can be friends again. She and I spend a lot of time together after all. 🙂

To enter the giveaway all you have to do is leave me a comment telling me one of your kitchen mishaps. (Goodness knows we all have them!) Did you accidentally pour freshly made gravy down the sink? Did you burn your husbands birthday cake? Did your chicken soup boil over while you were eating chocolate and reading a great book?

I would love to hear your stories. Everyone needs a good laugh now and then, right! You may enter from now until Thursday March 6th. Winner will be announced and contacted on Friday March 7th.

Good luck, everyone!

  1. I had everyone over for Christmas Eve. I made a turkey like I had a ton of times. This time it didn’t cook. So my husband and bil ran to the grocery store to by lunch meat. Great holiday dinner!

  2. I recently decided to paint my kitchen cabinets. Well that led to me deciding I needed to paint the walls, which led to me needing to paint the ceiling, which led to me needing to tile, which led to new countertops and on and on and on. My project which I thought would take a week embed up taking about three months. Just as I needed the end of the project I was up one night painting until 2:00 am. I was carrying the almost full can of paint over to the counter when I tripped over the shop vac and the paint flew all over the almost completed kitchen. Sigh…

  3. I tried making a bigger batch of the crockpot mashed potatoes for thanksgiving dinner to take to my brother’s. We were gone for several hours to my husband’s family’s dinner while they were cooking and when we got home (with only 30 minutes until we had to leave for the next dinner)I proceeded to start mashing the potatoes, but since it was a bigger batch they were still a little bit firm. I put them in a bowl and tried microwaving them to soften them up. Got them out dumped them into my kitchenaid thinking that might break them up better. No luck. We finally had to put them into a colander in batches and while my husband held it over a bowl, I used a rubber spatula to firmly press them through trying to leave out the lumps. What a fiasco!!! We were 30 minutes late to Thanksgiving dinner (their food all prepared)and the potatoes weren’t my best work (at least the lumps were gone!). Next time I’ll definitely remember to start a bigger batch earlier to give them more time!! My mouth never wanted to spew profanities so badly in my life — but you’ll be happy to know I refrained. 🙂

  4. I was fixing Thanksgiving dinner for my family. I took out a platter to put the turkey on and set it on the stove. Next thing I knew, there was a loud pop and the platter had shattered. I forgot that the eye on the stove was still hot.

  5. I have had several mishaps in the kitchen throughout my years of cooking. The most recent mishap was when I made some BBQ chicken. I had put the chicken in the oven and then went downstairs to help my daughter clean her room. We got sidetracked and I completely forgot about the chicken in the oven! When I went upstairs to the kitchen (a couple of hours later)they were a burnt, crispy, black mess. It was more like BBQ chicken jerky when that was all said and done.

  6. While making breakfast for my kids, I burnt the toast and made the smoke alarm go off. Woke the whole family up!

  7. My mishap was at my parent’s house. Big family get together, and I put a glass pan on the stove just for a minute. Of course I got busy and the pan stayed on the glass cooktop. The pan blew up. Hot glass shards everywhere! First step was removing barefooted children. The glass was so hot it burned through my mom’s vinyl flooring. She had to get a whole new floor put in. She went with tile this time, and now she thinks my personal goal is to break all of her dishes…. So embarassing.

  8. I was making a candy with Saltine crackers and a brown sugar/butter coating. I laid out the crackers on a cookie sheet and poured on the brown sugar mixture (as the recipe suggested), although it didn’t dawn on me that I should be using a cookie sheet with raised sides.
Needless to say, brown sugar mixture went rolling off the cookie sheet shortly after I slipped it in the oven. Yikes – boiling, sticky, burnt brown sugar coated the bottom of the oven! That smell lingered for days, despite multiple thorough cleanings of the kitchen.

  9. My kitchen mistake, I got busy talking on the phone while making mashed potatoes and totally forgot and took a nap later to come in the kitchen a couple hours later to find the water had boiled out and an awesome hard black concoction. It’s been several years and I still get carp for being the only person to ever burn mashed potatoes.

  10. We were having guests from Austria over for dinner, and decided to take them out in the boat before dinner instead of after because it looked like it was going to rain later in the day. After the boat trip, I didn’t have enough time to slow cook my pork chops and gravy, so I put them into the pressure cooker. It exploded!! The pot jumped off the stove onto the floor and gravy spewed and shot through the relief opening across my kitchen and through my family room! Somehow though, the lid never came off the pot. My step-mother cleaned up the mess while I opened the pot. I added more gravy, put the pressure cooker back on the stove, and carried on. The meal turned out fine! How I pulled it off, I’ll never know!!
