THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED

Today, I really REALLY wanted to post a fabulous new recipe for you all. That was my plan all week-long, you see. But as luck would have it, my good intentions were rudely interrupted by fact that my kitchen sink simply decided to come unglued from her usual spot and fell right out from under the counter-top leaving me with no running water (or sink!) in my kitchen and 500 dirty dishes just begging to be cleaned.

This is not a joke.

Would I lie to you?

No way, man. I would not.

Good times around here, my friends. After I washed the previously mentioned 500 dishes (give or take 450) in my bathtub during the late night hours, I had a good nights rest and woke up ready and willing to serve my family cheap, five dollar pizza for the duration my small kitchen crisis. (Which should be over in the next 24 hours or so. At least that was the good news given to me today by MyHandsomeHusband aka Repair Man of Wonder).

And so, dear readers, instead of a new recipe for you today I am giving away one of my favorite kitchen appliances of all time.

Isn’t she a beauty!

I would love to give one of you lucky readers a brand spanking new Ninja Kitchen System 1200 (BL700), complete with a small and large pitcher and many different cutting blades (including a whipping blade and dough hook).

I absolutely adore this contraption. I use it for all kinds of things, including smoothie making, chopping nuts, veggies, blending up graham cracker crumbs for crusts, making salad dressings, whipping cream, blending dips..etc, etc, etc…I have even used it in a pinch to make cookie dough and bread dough! Amazing, it is.

I use mine every day.

Just like I used to use my kitchen sink every day.

Until she went rogue on me. Dang thing. Hoping once she has been restored to her full glory, we can be friends again. She and I spend a lot of time together after all. 🙂

To enter the giveaway all you have to do is leave me a comment telling me one of your kitchen mishaps. (Goodness knows we all have them!) Did you accidentally pour freshly made gravy down the sink? Did you burn your husbands birthday cake? Did your chicken soup boil over while you were eating chocolate and reading a great book?

I would love to hear your stories. Everyone needs a good laugh now and then, right! You may enter from now until Thursday March 6th. Winner will be announced and contacted on Friday March 7th.

Good luck, everyone!

  1. I was baking chicken when I smelled something burning. I had set the baking sheet on the counter before putting it in the oven and a chip clip with a magnet had stuck to it without my knowledge. What a mess in my oven!

  2. We went out of town for Labor Day and when we came home our entire kitchen and basement(below the kitchen) was flooded. Our pressurized line for the reverse osmosis system broke while we were away! We have had MANY kitchen mishaps from broken appliances, disposals, faucets, to cooking blunders such as my birthday cake curse. 🙂

  3. I am pretty sure you live close to me, you can come and use my sink and dishwasher if you need to!
My story is that when we were first married my husband wanted to cook for me so he left the 9×13 to cool on the stove top on a hot burner and it exploded. Needless to say that 13 years later I still cringe every time he wants to make something. I just tell him it’s the thought that counts and then I try to persuade him to let me cook.

  4. I decided to make deviled eggs and put them on the stove to boil. Got a phone call from my daughter to come pick her up. Her coach wouldn’t them leave on time and by the time I got home the eggs had exploded onto my ceiling. Needless to say I don’t make deviled eggs anymore!

  5. Instead of setting the timer on the microwave for someone to practice the piano the microwave itself was set and it was cooking away with nothing in it. It ended up burning up the microwave.
We had to buy a new microwave and this was not an old microwave, very sad thing.

  6. One of my mishaps was when I was living at home with my parents- came home tired from sports practice, and my mom was outside showing the house to a siding salesman to get an estimate. I was so hungry I started to make a grilled cheese sandwich on the stove, and lay down on the couch for “just a minute” while the first side cooked. I awoke to banging on the door, my mom and the salesman had noticed black smoke coming out of the kitchen window. Boy,was my Mom mad at me for ruining her pan and stinking up the house! I don’t think I’ve made a grilled cheese since that day.

  7. I once woke up and walked into the kitchen to make a pot of coffee just to find I was up to my ankles in water. It was winter, the pipes froze and burst with water(very cold) all over kitchen floor. Good thing I had a carpet cleaner.

  8. A couple of years ago I realized one morning that our freezer was broken when I opened it up and everything looked really wet. Our meat was starting to thaw and everything! We were living in an apartment at the time and I had no other freezer so I quickly called up multiple friends of mine and stashed our frozen meats and other foods in 3 different freezers at 3 different friends’ houses because nobody had room to fit all of our food plus theirs! Thankfully, we got a new fridge shortly after.

  9. Way back when my husband and I were newlyweds, we worked hard and made a delicious Italian chicken dish. We set it on broil to cook. We got distracted by a new movie that had come out (at the dollar movie theater) and on a whim decided to hurry and catch the movie because it was starting soon. We completely forgot about the chicken cooking until we arrived home from the movie to smoke and a completely black chicken “brick”. Luckily there was no fire. 🙂

  10. Most of my kitchen mishaps have to do with me forgetting that my black lab, Bo, has no self control when it comes to food being left on the counter. Time and time again I have left and come back to the kitchen only to find him devouring what I just fixed for dinner. When will I ever learn?!?!?!?
