A few month ago I became a Grandma for the first time ever. This is my son and his beautiful daughter Kollyns. To say she is dreamy and that we are all in love with her would be the grandest understatement that ever there was.

She is literally a sweet piece of heaven. I could hold her for hours upon hours and never tire of it truly. 🙂

When she smiles we all just stare at her in amazement. It’s like there has never been a baby smile quite as perfectly, in the whole creation of time. 😉 You fellow grandparents know what I’m talking about, don’t you!? I suspected she might have this kind of power over us. What I didn’t suspect and what I’ve found to be my favorite part of being a grandma so far…is seeing how sweet my boy Mark is with her. He’s turned into A Gentle Protector. And he’s not the only one who has changed…

The other day Kollyns was staying at our house for a few hours. I had her tucked safely on the couch while she slept. I looked over and my boy Aaron (age 14) was stacking a big pile of pillows on the floor in front of her. When I asked what he was doing he responded…

“The sun is starting to get on her, Mom. I don’t want to wake her up to move her, so I figured this was the next best thing.”

And my heart melted just a little bit. How could it not. The Gentle Protectors have surfaced, after all.

  1. There’s nothing more precious than a new baby girl in your family! Especially when you have boys who are so protective of your little angel! They show their true colors (golden…they’re all actually like St. Michael, the Archangel, there to protect your little family cherubs!)! I’ve just enjoyed your picture so very much, and I can’t wait until my two sons make me a Grandma!! Congratulations!!!

  2. I have 5 grandchildren, and they are absolutely wonderful. Congratulations. Thank you for your post about the great men in your family! We don’t hear enough or tell them enough how wonderful they are and how much we appreciate them. Gentle. Protectors. Both qualities our world sorely needs to recognize again. God bless your little granddaughter, and your family!

  3. I also am a first time grandma. I have loved watching my son become not just a father but a daddy. My girl is almost 4 now. The time flies even quicker with my grandchild than with my own kids. Don’t blink or she will be cooking with you in the kitchen!

  4. Yes Jamie, how did we ever live without grandchildren, but then how did we ever live without great-grandchildren? Waiting for my great-great grandchildren.
I’m so happy for you, little girl are truly sugar and spice and everything nice. Congratulations

  5. Congrats. Being a grandparent is a game changer. My boys are 15 and 17 now. I miss babies and love them so much and watching them grow up. They make you feel young again.
