THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED

Today, I really REALLY wanted to post a fabulous new recipe for you all. That was my plan all week-long, you see. But as luck would have it, my good intentions were rudely interrupted by fact that my kitchen sink simply decided to come unglued from her usual spot and fell right out from under the counter-top leaving me with no running water (or sink!) in my kitchen and 500 dirty dishes just begging to be cleaned.

This is not a joke.

Would I lie to you?

No way, man. I would not.

Good times around here, my friends. After I washed the previously mentioned 500 dishes (give or take 450) in my bathtub during the late night hours, I had a good nights rest and woke up ready and willing to serve my family cheap, five dollar pizza for the duration my small kitchen crisis. (Which should be over in the next 24 hours or so. At least that was the good news given to me today by MyHandsomeHusband aka Repair Man of Wonder).

And so, dear readers, instead of a new recipe for you today I am giving away one of my favorite kitchen appliances of all time.

Isn’t she a beauty!

I would love to give one of you lucky readers a brand spanking new Ninja Kitchen System 1200 (BL700), complete with a small and large pitcher and many different cutting blades (including a whipping blade and dough hook).

I absolutely adore this contraption. I use it for all kinds of things, including smoothie making, chopping nuts, veggies, blending up graham cracker crumbs for crusts, making salad dressings, whipping cream, blending dips..etc, etc, etc…I have even used it in a pinch to make cookie dough and bread dough! Amazing, it is.

I use mine every day.

Just like I used to use my kitchen sink every day.

Until she went rogue on me. Dang thing. Hoping once she has been restored to her full glory, we can be friends again. She and I spend a lot of time together after all. 🙂

To enter the giveaway all you have to do is leave me a comment telling me one of your kitchen mishaps. (Goodness knows we all have them!) Did you accidentally pour freshly made gravy down the sink? Did you burn your husbands birthday cake? Did your chicken soup boil over while you were eating chocolate and reading a great book?

I would love to hear your stories. Everyone needs a good laugh now and then, right! You may enter from now until Thursday March 6th. Winner will be announced and contacted on Friday March 7th.

Good luck, everyone!

  1. So my mishap happened just a few weeks ago. While cooking I reached up to grab some spices and our sugar shaker fell out of the cabinet and landed on my glass stove top:( needless to say it cracked. We’ve still been cooking on it until we can replace it. I really hope it win!!
    Thanks

  2. My worst was when I grabbed the blender jar and poured in the soup to puree… forgetting that the bottom wasn’t on the jar… boiling soup all down the front of me and onto the floor.

  3. Trying to hurry and clean up I put dish soap instead of dish washer soap in the dishwasher. We went out for a bit and came home to a kitchen full of bubbles. The kids thought it was fun, me… Not so much. I walked in to stop the dishwasher and ended up on my back. Haha took forever to clean up

  4. This is actually not my mishap. . .but my 12 year old daughter’s. I was sitting in the garage supervising my younger boys playtime when she poked her head out of the door and said, “Ummmm Mommy. . .come quick. . .I’ve had a little mishap with the mixer.” She had gotten a bit too close with her long hair to my electric mixer while making cookies and her beautiful hair was totally twisted and tangled in the beaters. We have a good laugh about that to this day We BOTH still wish she would have let me photograph the moment–but her 12 year old self nixed that idea quickly!

  5. My most memorable cooking mishap happened in jr. high home ec. I spilled some food as I was cooking and grabbed a paper towel to clean around the electric stove top. It caught fire! I quickly turned on the sink and extinguished the flame. Thankfully the teacher didn’t see and my classmates and I had a laugh – later. To this day, I am very careful when cleaning my stove.

  6. 3 of the 4 times we have had a specific couple over to our house I for dinner I have burned the bread. Once it wasn’t just burned black and to a crisp, the whole tray of garlic bread was actually on fire, with flames and everything. Talk about embarrassing!! Needless to say, the next time they are over, we are NOT having bread with our meal.

  7. Put water on the stove to boil and completely forgot about it. The water boiled away and ruined the pot. So glad I didn’t burn the house down!

  8. My kitchen mishap was on the grill and the one my sons do not let me forget. I was cooking ribs for dinner and trying to do everything to get ready. Well, the grill flared up (a lot) and the ribs were burnt to a crisp, I mean really burnt! Gotta love my sons, but they still refuse to let me cook ribs on the grill without reminding me about it first.

  9. Due to an obvious brain cramp once, I boiled eggs in a shallow pan. No worries…I’ll just stay close by. Not the case; I was distracted and walked outside and one thing led to another. When I came back in, the water had all evaorated, the eggs were busted open with bits and pieces of egg and shells burned to the bottom of the pan. To this date, I know it was only the grace of God that kept that concoction from catching on fire. Ruined my Calphalon pan and left me with a reminder to never walk away from something that is on the stove!

  10. I was making potato cheese soup in the crockpot and while I was adding the ingredients it called for 1/8 teaspoon of hot pepper. The next line called for a half cup of green onions. Well needless to say I put in 1/2 cup of hot pepper and did not realize this. Mind you I have made this recipe countless times. I served it for dinner it was a total disaster, and I ran out and had to pick up dinner. I have never made this mistake again and the soup was like putting fire in our mouths. Today we can laugh at it, but I was quite miffed at the time.
