Hope some of you get a chance to try ti!

Happy Fall! 🙂

Caramel Apple Sheet Cake

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 35 minutes

Yield: 16-20 servings

2 C flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 C sugar
1 C brown sugar (loosely packed)
1 tsp cinnamon
1 C butter
1 C water
1/2 C buttermilk
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 C chopped apples
1/2 C butter
1/4 C milk
3 1/2 C powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 C caramel sauce
dash salt

1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
2. Into your stand mixer or large mixing bowl, place the flour, baking soda, salt, sugar, brown sugar and cinnamon. Mix together to combine.
3. Into a medium sized sauce pan place the butter and water. Bring to a boil over medium high heat. Pour the mixture into the dry ingredients and mix on low for 2 minutes.
4. Add the buttermilk, eggs and vanilla. Mix until combined.
5. Fold in the apples.
6. Spray a large cookie sheet (mine is 11x17) and pour the batter onto it. Spread it out evenly with a knife. Make sure that the apple pieces are evenly distributed.
7. Bake for 17-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
8. To make the glaze, place the butter and milk in a large glass measuring cup. Heat in the microwave until melted. Add the other ingredients and whisk to combine.
9. Pour the glaze over the cake while it is still warm.
Serve immediately, or allow to cool and serve at room temperature. Either way, it is scrumptious!

  1. Hi Jamie-
I love most all of your recipes. But I made the Caramel Apple sheet cake and thought I would love it. I probably would have if I had left off the glaze. To me, it was just waaaay too sweet. If there had been a lot of cake, like a layer cake, it probably would be ok. But for such a shallow cake, that was a lot of glaze! I would suggest making half or a fourth of it and just doing a drizzle of glaze over it or perhaps a drizzling of caramel sauce. The cake is much too delicious and moist from the apples to handle all that glaze. Of course, I’m sure everyone would not agree with me. It’s a matter if tastes, I guess. Just my .02 worth!
    Love your blog!

  2. I’ve made this twice for family and work gatherings and it has been a hit both times. Super easy and delicious.

  3. Followed recipe exactly. Came out way too wet and sweet. After reviewing the recipe containing 3 sticks of butter and a total of 5 1/2 cups of sugar ( I did cut back by 1/2 c) I see why. What a waste of time. Not sure how everyone else got such great results! Sorry, just wanted to give you an honest review

  4. An excellent tasty ingredient to add is Heath toffee bits to toppings or wherever you want to add toffee bits for a rich crunchy buttery

    1. I followed the recipe and what a waste of time and ingredients. This recipe is way too wet to call it a cake. One peice eaten and the rest went in the garbage!
