Last week my family and I boarded an airplane eager to see some sunshine. We live in snowy Utah where temperatures are chilly, the snow is piled high and gray skis are more frequent than blue, this time of year.

Wouldn’t you know it, but when we landed there wasn’t a trace of blue sky to be seen. In fact, someone had ordered rain and gray skies as far as the eye could see. We waited in rain to pick up our luggage, which was soaked!

We stood in the rain with 4,000 other people trying to board a cruise ship. (This is what happens to a girls hair when she stands in the rain.) However, dear reader it only took a couple of days for the skies to clear…

…and for scenes like this to appear. Oh, thank goodness!

We rode on water taxis…

…and sat out in the sun. (Could you just kiss those little cheeks from now until forever?) This little grandbaby of mine’s nickname is Moocher. It fits, seeing as we can’t stop mooching his little cheeks.

We hopped aboard this large truck with 30 of our extended family members and rode around the streets of Puerto Vallarta destined to Zip Line through the beautiful country. This truck ride was actually about 50 times more frightening than the actual zip lining. My Boy Nate (a new driver himself) kept leaning over to me and saying “There is no way this guy would pass a driving test in the states.” I couldn’t find any reason to disagree. 😉

I’m happy to report we made it safely to our ziplining appointment and it did not disappoint. This is my boy Nate, enjoying the beauty.

It was a great time. If you are ever in Puerto Vallerta, look up Nogalito Eco Park Canopy Zip Line Tour. They provide a fantastic experience. There were 11 zips total…

…and it was amazing. While we were finishing up that day I asked some of my little nieces who are 5 and 7 if it was more scary or more fun.

After they thought about it for a few seconds, they responded with “for sure scary, but so FOR SURE so much more fun!”.

And I couldn’t help but see the life lesson in that.

Life is full of such a beautiful combination of experience.

Gray days, that always seem to turn into…

Sunshine. 🙂

Challenging climbs that provide adventure and perspective.

Long years of tending to small children that end up growing into teenagers…

…and then into adults that have children of their own. Wow, what a ride. What a magnificent combination of gray and sunny days, being a mother (and now grandmother) is.

I’d never trade it in a million years.

All my love to you, dear readers. May the gray days be fewer than the sunny, for you. 🙂
